Spencers POV:
I was sitting at my desk, finishing paperwork when Hotch came out of his office. There must be another case, seeing as he has a case file in his hand. He walked closer to the main area with all the desks instead of the round table room, meaning it's pretty serious.
"There has just been reports of a shooter at a middle school." Hotch announced.
My heart stopped. Mine and Y/n's daughter go to that middle school, along with JJ's son, Henry. She had the chance to skip grades and go straight into high school but she didn't want to. Her name is Addie, I know it's basic, but Y/n really liked the name so we went with it.
Just as Hotch announced the shooting phones started ringing. They were all business phones, except the one ringing in mine and JJ's pocket. I hurriedly pulled it out to see my wife's contact flash on the screen. I answer it and I can tell she has been crying.
"S-Spencer, please tell me you know what's going on." She sobbed.
"Hey, I need you to breath. I promise I will not let anything happen to Addie. I know what's going on and the BAU is going to help with the takedown." I explain.
My team didn't know about my family. It was hard to hide a family for 12 years, but it's what I did to protect them. I would never be able to live with myself if they got hurt because of an unsub that had a hatred against me.
I looked over to JJ seeing her worried expression. She's scared for her child just like I am mine. Y/n continued talking, pulling me back from my wandering thoughts.
"I need to see you. I just need something to ground me at the moment, and the only thing that can do that is you." She said.
"Meet me at the school, I will let you stay with me and my team." I said.
"Ok, I'm sorry that I'm going to have to meet your team, I know how much you worry." She said.
"Do not apologize. If it's to save our daughter and make sure you're in the right headspace then I don't care." I said.
"I love you." She whispered.
"I love you too. I will see you at the school." I said.
I stood up and grabbed my things, getting ready to go. I met the team by the glass doors and we were heading out. I send Addie a text, knowing that her phone is always on vibrate.
Hey, I know what's going on. I promise it will be over soon. Is there any way you can call me?
She responded as I was getting in the SUV with the whole team.
Yeah, I can call
Then a second later my phone was ringing. I answered it immediately, hearing her heavy breathing on the other side.
"Dad." She whispered.
"Hey sweetheart. I promise everything is going to be fine." I said quietly.
I felt the team's eyes on me, listening to my phone call but I didn't care. All I cared about was getting my daughter out safe and sound.
"Promise." She asked.
I heard a gunshot ring out and her muffled sobs.
"Listen to me, I will not let anything happen to you I promise. My team and I are on our way, and before you know it me and mom will be taking you home." I said.
"I'm scared, dad." She sobbed.
"I know, it's going to end. I just need you to stay on the phone with me unless he is close to you. I need a form of communication." I said.
