TW: mean ass mentally abusive parents

You and Spencer were getting ready to go visit your parents. He had yet to meet them and you had already met his mom so it was only fair. Your parents lived closer than his mom did. He always wondered why he had yet to meet them but he never pushed you on it. They were your parents and you would let him meet them when you were ready.

You had decided it was time for him to meet your parents and that's what's happening today. You knew he would love your mom. She was one of the sweetest people you knew. Your dad though, he might be a different story. He enjoys putting you down sometimes, yelling at you when there's no reason to. That's one of the reasons why you were scared to have Spencer meet them. You knew your dad didn't care who was around when he was yelling at you.

"You're almost ready, love?" Spencer asked.

"Yeah, I just have to finish my hair." You answered.

Once you finished your hair you were out the door. You drove while Spencer sat in the passenger seat, talking about how he's excited to meet your parents. You hoped they wouldn't disappoint. You were scared and Spencer noticed.

"You know I don't have to meet them if you don't want me to?" Spencer asked.

"I know but I want you to. I'm just a little nervous, that's all." You said.

Soon enough you were pulling up to your parents house. You took a deep breath and got out. You met Spencer at the front of the car and grabbed his hand. Once you got to the front door your mom had already opened the door. She must have been watching for you.

"Mom, hi." You said.

She pulled you into a hug, ripping your hand away from Spencers. Once she let go she went to Spencer while your dad came around the corner. He hugged you, both of you exchanged hellos. He looked over at Spencer and smiled.

"It's good she found someone to put up with her for a little bit." He said.

Here we go.

"What do you mean put up with her for a little bit?" Spencer asked.

"I only mean it's good to see someone willing to put up with her till she eventually runs you off." He said.

"I don't think she will run me off." Spencer said.

"Oh trust me, she's hard to handle." Your dad laughed.

Spencer looked over at you and you just shrugged. He walked closer to you and followed after your mom and dad as they led you to the kitchen.

"Does he always say things like that about you?" Spencer asked.

"I'm used to it." Is all you say.

You sit down and Spencer follows you, sitting right next to you. Your parents sit across from you and you all start to make your plates. Spencer was getting green beans and went ahead and put some on your plate for you. You smiled as a thank you as you heard your dad laugh a little.

"You know she's not a child right? She can do that for herself." Your dad said.

"I know, but it's always nice to do little things for the people you love." Spencer said.

Your mom started asking questions and soon everyone fell into a rhythm. Your dad didn't say anything about you. He just listened to you answer the questions. His jaw almost fell off when you all told him you had been together for 2 years, though. Soon your mom was dishing out desserts. You went to take a bite when your dad spoke up.

"Don't eat too much Y/n. You already have enough weight on you and it doesn't look good on you." He said.

You looked down at your plate and then back at your dad. You nodded and decided against eating. Spencer sat his fork down and stood up. You looked up at him with your parents.

"We are leaving. I tried to ignore your comments about her but when you start talking about something I have watched her struggle with I'm not going to sit around and let it be. She's beautiful and you should never say such things about your daughter." Spencer said.

He grabbed your hand and you stood up, leaving with him. As soon as you're out of the house Spencer was pulling you into a hug.

"I'm so sorry. He should never say things like that and you're beautiful. Don't let him get to you, ever." Spencer rambled.

"Thank you so much for doing that." You whispered.

Spencer pulled away from the hug, cupping your checks. He nodded and leaned in, kissing you softly.

"Let's go home." Spencer whispered.

"Ok." you said.

Spencer drove home with his hand on your thigh. Once you got home you both changed into your pjs and laid down. It was still midday but neither of you cared. You cuddled up to Spencer with your head on his chest. You threw one of your legs across his and let yourself relax.

"When we get up we can go out and get some ice cream or something. Whatever you want." Spencer said.

"Mk." You said.

Spencer kissed the top of your head and rubbed your back. You both fell asleep like that. You were happy with where you are and you wouldn't trade it for anything. Even if your dad thinks differently.
