I am far from home,
Yet I am far from alone.

We are away from family,
Yet we live in harmony.
We have formed bonds in our hearts,

I did not think this from the start;
I felt isolated, like a broken wheel
On a shopping cart.
I thought, "This isn't the place for me.
I am trapped, unable to flee."
But within an hour, was set loose,
No longer bound by an anxiety-tangled noose.
I have told jumbled stories
And heard melancholy tales;
We have sat together
And walked steep trails.
"Nothing compares to the beautiful view."
But now I find that untrue
Because nothing compares
To my time spent with you.
