Sometimes I ponder how I would be
Without music or poetry
Because not having an interest,
Not having an outlet feels almost empty.

And perhaps without either,
I wouldn't be me,
I wouldn't find joy or beauty
In everything I see.

I wouldn't have something
To show a fraction of appreciation,
Something to embarrass myself
Or something as an act of personal narration.

So despite hiding under pillows
And ducking behind blankets
And weeping willows,
I like writing and singing,
And playing and listening.

I wouldn't have it any other way,
So the music and poetry are here to stay.
