Twenty-seven

Like a bamboo are the days of my life,
It took me time to grow.
Others have become a tree,
Yet, I'm still a bush.

Like a giant rock are the trials of my life,
Eroded by the hardship and sorrow.
Some parts of me have joined the wind,
Yet, some parts are still trying to cope with the waves.

Like a yellow kite are the happiness in my life,
The eerie feeling that have lingered with the clouds.
Too free to know that I am tethered,
Yet, joyous to be soaring and still grounded.

Like a promise,
Are the twenty-seven years of my life,
Full of heartbreaks, regrets, and compromise.
Too strong to break or to bend,
Yet, an oath to keep going on without lingering too much.

Like twenty-seven
Are the many other years of my life,
A little bit experienced and lacking a lot.
But I'll be faithful and trust everything to God,
Because,  twenty-seven won't happen without His love.
