Characters: Manila Mikey x Reader---
Lied down comfortably on the bed, you slept peacefully under the warm sheets. You loved to go to bed at night, especially after a long day of work. Lying on the cold bed, all snuggled in the so comfortable blanket, your body finally lax and your mind at peace. Going to bed meant relaxing and finally letting go of all the worry of the day. But what made you adore this moment, even more, was that you got to finally cuddle with your sweet beloved husband, Mikey. After not seeing each other for the day, both busy with your jobs, finally reuniting with each other during the evening was a sublime and loving moment. Being away for a time only made the reunion better. The yearning and longing for each other were finally over when you find each other in the comfortable arms of the your significant other. It was like two puzzle pieces perfect fitting. Oh, how you loved those moments, burying your face in the crook of Mikey's neck as he laid soft kisses on your hair and hugged you tightly.
But this night was not the same.
This night, you woke up from the realm of dreams hearing soft sobs behind you. You escaped from the slumber and blinked a few times, letting your eyes adjust to the darkness. The moonlight was creeping from the curtains, casting a white and ethereal light on the sleeping figure of your husband beside you. You softly smiled as you looked at him, admiring his magnificent beauty. Under the magical light of the moon, he resembled a peaceful angel. An angel who only wanted to be loved and to love. An angel who only wanted to be happy and for his loved one to be happy.
But admiring him, you noticed the few tears that left his lidded eyes. Mikey softly sobbed as he clenched the sheet of the bed harder as a frown flawed his brow. Your heart ached at this sight. Even after all these years, Mikey would still suffer from the loss of those he held so dearly to his heart. Even after all these years, his mind would still be brought back to the past. Even after all these years, his mind would still be plagued by those horrible and awful memories. He had mourned, but he would always remember those who once were. They would all never forget those who once were. So that the lost ones would still be alive in their heart, in their head. So that the lost ones would live through them. So that their flame would not die down.
You moved closer to Mikey and sneaked your arm around his waist. You softly kissed his bare shoulder then his cheek.
"Mikey," you gently called.
You tenderly kissed his temple, then his hair. Mikey stirred from his sleep and slowly opened his tired eyes. His sad irises moved to yours. You softly softly smiled and kissed the corner of his eyes, erasing the last tear drop. The black-haired man turned around and wrapped his arms around your waist. You pulled him closer as he snuggled his face in the crook of your neck.
"I'm sorry... I woke you up...," he apologized.
But you shook your head, brushing his soft hair with your fingers. The feeling of your hands in his locks reassured him, calmed him down. His tensed body relaxed, all the fear and anxiety leaving him slowly as he enjoyed the comfort that you provided him. That was one of the many things Mickey loved about you. Just with a simple touch, just with your simple presence in his vicinity, he felt at ease. The raging storm in his head would calm down and completely disappear, his heart would become lighter, filled with bliss. He felt silly, he felt childish, but he couldn't care less. You were his happiness. You were his peace. You were his sanity. The love he vowed you was beyond words, beyond comprehension. He loved you with all he got.
"It's okay," you gently said, kissing his hair. "You had a nightmare?"
"A memory...," he shook his head. "Of my brother's death...,"
You instinctively tightened the hug. You knew how much Shinichiro meant to Mikey. You knew how much he loved and admire his brother. And most of all, you knew how his death affected him. Shinichiro was his hero. And he lost him. It had been hard, but Mikey still managed to move on with life. But sometimes, the void that Shinichiro left could still be felt. In those moments, when Mikey would feel incredibly down and empty, you did not know what to do. You wished you could find the right words, but every time, you found nothing to say. So all you did was hug him, showing him that you were here for him. But what you did not know was that the simple knowledge of having you by his side was already helping him greatly.
"Do you wanna eat something?" You asked him.
You knew that food always managed to brighten him up even just a little bit. It might be the middle of the night but who cares. And if it could do some good to Mikey, then it was even better.
Though, the black-haired man shook his head. He didn't want to bother you even more. He woke you up, he didn't want to ask for anything more. You were always so caring and lovely, showering him with little cute attention and gifts. He felt like he was too much to handle, that he was always asking too much from you, that he was bothering you. But unbeknownst to him, it was just your love language. You love gifting him with presents, you wanted him to feel love. The love you held for him was so intense you needed to show it or else, you felt it would consume you.
But despite telling you he wished not to eat, his stomach contradicted him. It grumbled, earning an amused smile from you, as Mikey tensed up. You already know a small blush appeared on his face as embarrassment slowly crept into his heart.
"Are you sure you don't wanna eat?" You teased him. Mikey slightly looked up at you, an adorable pout on his face. You immediately melt at the sight.
"I don't wanna bother," he said "If I sleep I won't be hungry anymore,"
You frowned and gently pushed him, rolling over so you could lie on him. Propping your elbow beside his head, you place your head on your palm as you looked at him, brushing his hair with your free hand.
"It's not healthy. If you're hungry, you should eat," you gently scolded. "Besides, I don't mind. I like spoiling you,"
"Why? I feel like I ask you so much,"
"Do we need a reason to take care of someone we love?" You softly smiled. "I love you, Manjiro, so I want you to be happy. It's as simple as that," you kissed the tip of his nose.
Mikey stared at you for a short moment, his heart filling itself with bliss and love. He didn't know he could love you even more, or fall in love with you once again. Your kindness and gentleness never ceased to amaze him. He wondered many times what did he do to deserve such a kind soul like you. And then, he would always tell himself to always treat you right, to always treat you with care, calmness, and love. Because you deserved it.
"You missed," he cutely pouted.
"Hm?" You tilted your head to the side, looking at him, confused.
"You missed," Mikey repeated, pointing at his lips.
Realizing what he was asking, you giggled and leaned to peck his lips. Mikey curled his lips up into a broad smile as you kissed him once more. It was longer and more gentle, so much his heart was melting. Mikey responded to the kiss with the same softness, telling you how much he loved you through it. You wrapped your arms around his neck as you deepened the kiss. Your lips moved in sync with his, dancing a fairy magical dance as you enjoy the warmth the embrace provided to you both. Mikey sneaked his arms around your waist as he rolled over, hovering over you. You started to chuckle as he left tender kisses down to your jaw to neck and snuggled his face in the crook of your neck, hugging you close. You felt so happy, in a perfect world with him. You would never get over this never-ending merriness you felt whenever you were with him. This ever-lasting joy. This eternal, undying pure love.
"Do you wanna eat tonkatsu? We still have leftovers from yesterday,"
"Yes!" Mikey happily exclaimed, eyes sparkling with joy as he stood on his elbows.
You giggled seeing how joyous he was, his broad grin garnishing his already ethereal face despite being woken up in the middle of the night.
Mikey pecked your lips and bolted up from the bed. You laughed, seeing how excited he was to go eat his favorite dish. You knew he was starving despite affirming the contrary.
"Come on, Y/N!" he said as he rushed to the kitchen.
"Wait up, Mikey!" You laughed as you followed suit.
That night, you ate together while talking all night long before falling asleep in the arms of one another.
