"You want me to tutor Sano Manjiro?" You repeated, shock quite obvious in your voice.

It was lunch break and you had been called by your home teacher to come to the professors' room. In the beginning, you thought it was for some administration thing or to prepare for the next festival as you were the class president. Not one second in your mind you have expected to be missioned with helping the biggest delinquent and gang leader in the school to study. You had never spoken to Sano Manjiro, or Mikey as he preferred to be called. He was either absent, surely for gang reasons, or most of the time asleep. Draken, his second, would come and wake him up for lunch and Mikey would then fall back asleep. And of course, he would be one of the first ones to leave at the end of the day. So you, along with the rest of the class, had never really spoken to him. And his reputation was quite of a big reason as well. Most people were too scared of crossing him, fearing he would end them with a snap of his fingers. So most people just let him be. Even the teachers started trying to make him study. As long as he managed to pass the year, a thing you wondered how he did each time, they did not care.

Except, obviously, for your home teacher. He was that type of teacher, very kind and understanding that was always there for his students and always cheering them up. It was a great thing and he was very appreciated by almost everyone. Sometimes too appreciated by some. So naturally, when one of his students was failing, he would do everything in his power to help him. He wouldn't pressure them or give them a lecture like most teachers would do. He would accompany them in their study throughout the year, and be there to talk and listen. And part of that was assigning a tutor to the failing student. This tutor is you.

"I know he's not the typical student," the home teacher said. "And he is quite troublesome, I must admit. But I cannot just sit back and let him fail this year. It is my job to help him. Though I doubt he would accept night classes, so I thought tutoring was the best solution. Learning from someone of the same age is easier. And as you are the best student in the class, you are the best for the role,"

After such a speech, you could hardly see yourself refusing. The teacher made it seem like Mikey's whole future rested on your shoulders. If you refuse and Mikey indeed fails his year, you would a bit guilty. And if he really needed help, then why would you refuse? You were kind, that was in your nature. And on a more pragmatic side, tutoring would look good on your school file which would be an advantage to applying to a great school later on.

"If it's too much for you, I can still-"

"No, it's okay," You nodded. "I'll do it,"

"Alright," the teacher smiled, pleased with the answer. "I'll talk to Sano about it,"

That was how you ended up at the library of the school the next day, sitting at a table with books. School had just ended. When you met with the home teacher again, he had given you a list summing up what subject to revise. Mathematics was underlined in red, implying it was the subject that needed the most work. Though, looking at the list, only scientific subjects were listed. Chemistry, biology, and mathematics. There was also a note saying history subjects must be revised as well. All the other subjects were "ok" according to the home teacher. P.E was the only subject Mikey was excellent at. Apparently, he had the highest grade for any sport practiced each year in the whole school. But it seemed it was not enough.
