Chap 36 Pain

After discussing the plan with the black stork and putting tail on Dildar Khan and Asad, Minhaaj finally came back home.

Minhaaj came home at midnight and went straight towards Hania's room. He knocked at her door and waited for her to open it.

Hania couldn't sleep well at night so he knew she would wake up. In a second she opened the door like she was standing behind it, waiting for him to knock.

Minhaaj smiled wearily.

Hani Api I'm hungry. Can you heat something for me to eat?

Hania looked at him suspiciously because Minhaaj know how to cook and he was even a better cook than her. She didn't know why he came to her and that at midnight.

Don't look at me like that. I'm just lil tired. He spewed out like a child.

What... I didn't said anything. She chuckled and at that time he knew that to protect his sister's smile he has to take this step.

Then let's go. He replied.

Nonetheless, she just nodded and ambled downstairs.

All this fuss was about that Minhaaj wanted Hania's signature on the marriage papers. He knew if he came in the morning she would read everything from top to bottom. But now he had the opportunity to get the signature because she was sleepy. He convinced himself that he is doing this for her sister's safety.

Hania remembers making biryani for Mah Laaj who has not been eating much lately. From a faint memory she remembers Minhaaj told her that Mah Laaj loves biryani and no matter how angry or sad she is, she would eat it.

But the Mah Laaj she knew was before the incident. Now she was changed. She hasn't spoken to anyone these past few days. That talkative and bubbly Mah Laaj was long gone.

Hania and Minhaaj were startled when they entered the kitchen. They heard someone closing the fridge door with a bang and hid behind it.

Minhaaj told Hania to stay put and moved swiftly on his feet. When he came near the fridge he saw Mah Laaj standing facing the wall. She was trying to hide after making such big noise. Only she was capable of doing that.

A smile crept on his lips but it vanished in a second, thought his sister might see it in the darkness.

Minhaaj suddenly remembers the old Mah Laaj. He tapped Mah Laaj's shoulder and as a result, she jumped and pushed him so hard that he fell on his hips.

Mah Laaj was about to run when Hania switched on the light.

She stopped like a mannequin whereas Minhaaj groaned. He was not expecting her to do this.

Hania blinked her eyes just to make sure what she was seeing was true. Rice grains were stuck on Mah Laaj's lips.

Mah Laaj was the one who was eating the food. She thought someone was stealing food when she was not at home. Hania finally caught the culprit.

She tried preventing herself to laugh by pressing her lips together in a thin line.

Now that Mah Laaj was caught and felt embarrassed she wanted to run away from that scene as soon as possible.

She was about to run when Minhaaj stood up from the floor and grabbed her arm to stop her from running away. She has been hiding whenever Minhaaj was at home.

Mah Laaj felt like her heart missed a beat when her hand touched his chest and felt the pounding sound of his heart.

But she came back to reality in a second.
