Chap 9 First Step To New Life

After leaving Mah Laaj at her house safely, Minhaaj went to the Head Quarter to give his chief the detailed report of the operation.

He stepped inside the building and saw all his squad waiting for him outside the chief office room.

Everyone saluted to him when they saw Minhaaj coming their way. He just nodded and told them to stand at ease.

Umar came forward and asked in a low tone.

Sir, are we not going to talk about that girl? What if chief came to know about her from somewhere else? Then we have to abduct her and need to keep her at our dungeon. So that she won't tell others about our real identity.

Don't worry Umar. I will take responsibility. You guys have nothing to do with her. Minhaaj patted his shoulder lightly and twisted the doorknob of the office room.

He entered and saluted him.

Reporting my arrival to Commander-in-chief Ahad Raza Mir, sir.

His whole squad also entered behind him and saluted.

Yes Sir! Minhaaj put his hands behind his back and stood there straight while his squad also did the same.

Minhaaj knew what he was going to say next, so he sat down in his seat and was waiting for him to talk.

The report you sent to me in the morning was good but I think you missed some points deliberately. Is it true? The fake smile was on chief's face when he asked about it.

Sir, I can't hide anything from you, can I? Minhaaj spewed with a straight face.

Go on. I am all ears today. The chief leaned against the back of his chair and said it with cocked up brows.

Sir, that student has nothing to do with our operation. She is my university fellow and came there in search of her favourite pen which her late brother gifted her. She didn't see anyone's face because she fainted right there when I aimed at Shakir.
I have all her background information, just in case she might be from some other agency but she was not. I will keep my eyes on her during my university time and even after that. If I feel something suspicious, I will do what our rules say.

Minhaaj gave his chief the file of Mah Laaj's background but he just glanced at it and didn't open it.

I have just one question. Why didn't you put her in the report? The Chief asked and pushed away the file because more than this file he trusted his men.

Sir, there is no reason to put her in there either. But if you want me to re-write the report, I will do it. Minhaaj spewed with a thin line smile but he was scared because the torture they had to do to those people who know's there identity was severe. And if the name of Mah Laaj comes on papers, she will always summon to interrogate if something fishy happens during an operation.

No! I am okay with it. If you think it's not necessary, than I think you are right. Just keep a close eye on her.
