TW- I think the only one I can really think of is touch starvation... I wrote this when I was quarantined with my dad, so it's mostly a vent fic.

Envy came to you that night for something that you had vowed to never tell anyone about. If any of the other homunculi (or humans, for that matter) found out about any of this, Envy would never hear the end of it, and you knew he'd rather die than let that happen. You weren't about to let him get hurt.
It had been occuring more recently over the past few months. Envy never liked anyone to see this side of him, so his increasing number of nightly visits did concern you. You never complained though. It helped with the stuff you were going through as well, so might as well take advantage of it.
The purpose of this visit was much like the rest: Envy needed something - someone - to hold onto. None of the homunculi would ever take pleasure in admitting it, but even the superhumans got touch starved.
You were awakened by someone crawling into your bed with you. In any - and I mean ANY- other circumstance, you would have freaked out and completely decked your assailant. However, this particular scenario had occurred enough times that as soon as you recognized the breathing, you calmed your heart rate and relaxed.
"Envy?" You asked groggily. What time was it? You looked at the clock on the wall and made out that it was 12:30 am. Oh, the things we do for love, huh?
"Yeah, it's me," the homunculus whispered, "Sorry to disturb your beauty sleep." You could hear the smirk in his voice, but it sounded strained.
You rolled over and peered up at the figure plopped next to you. Envy looked... Stressed? A bit... Shaky? Yeah. Tired? Absolutely.
You had a sneaking suspicion that you knew why he was here. He had, after all, been coming for hugs and cuddles much more often as of late. But you wanted to make sure before jumping to any conclusions.
"What's up?" You whispered. Your voice was still groggy from sleep, but you were almost fully awake. Awake enough to sit up, that is.
He opened his mouth to speak, but he just shook his head when nothing came out. He looked exasperated at himself and simply put his head in his hands, groaning.
"Hugs?" You asked.
Envy peered up at you through the cracks in his fingers and simply nodded.
You smiled and opened your arms. He practically flung himself at you, curling up like a cat in your lap. You folded around him, one arm going around his back and supporting his weight, your fingers playing with his spiky hair, while the other arm found its way around Envy's waist.
You could feel him shiver at your touch, but he leaned closer, nuzzling his head into your collarbone.
You both stayed there for a while, your fingers running through his hair and tracing meaningless patterns on his skin. He wasn't shaking as much anymore, which you took as a win. And even though you'd never tell, these moments with Envy were your favorite in the whole world.
No, it wasn't ideal that he was hurting, but he'd come to you! You!! He may not be Pride, but he still had an enormous ego. Coming to someone else for help was a major thing for him, and it was something you knew you'd probably never be able to do.
When you thought that he was stable enough to rearrange yourself, you patted his waist and pressed your lips to the top of his head. He squeezed his eyes shut and... Purred? Oh, that was one sound you would NEVER forget.
"Hey," you whispered, a smile evident in your voice, "Do you wanna get more comfy?"
"Yeah." He groaned and sat up a bit more, rubbing at his eyes.
He moved to crawl away and get under the covers with you, but you gently grabbed his arm. "Hey, hold on!" When he turned back to face you, purple eyes wide with confusion, you smiled sneakily.
"C'mere," you said. Envy came back, head tilted and eyes narrowed. You smiled and slipped his headband off, purposefully leaving one hand near his face while you put the band on your nightstand.
When you turned back, Envy had leaned into your palm and had a small, REAL smile on his face. His dark, spiky hair, no longer held back by the band, fell into his eyes and you slipped a few strands between your fingers, twirling them about.
And there was that sound again! Envy started purring! You couldn't help but let out a gleeful giggle! In all your time as the homunculus' cuddle buddy, he'd never made a sound like this before!
As soon as Envy realized that he was actually PURRING, his eyes snapped open and looked up, alarmed! "If you tell anyone-" he threatened.
"Oh hush," you said playfully, "you know I'd never do that to you."
He slouched again, still giving you a suspicious look, but you knew it wasn't real. He knew that you would never hurt him, and you knew the same was true for him.
You shook your head, still smiling. "C'mon, get over here."
Envy pulled back the blanket and slid in next to you. He wiggled into your waiting arms, laying his head down on your shoulder, while draping his arms around your waist.
You smiled to yourself. Putting your arms around him, you lay your head on top of his, still playing with his dark hair. You felt Envy relaxing as the minutes wore on.
THIS was what made life worth living. Having one of the most powerful beings in Amestris curled up in your arms? Worth it. Looking down at said powerful being, and seeing the smallest, gentlest smile on his face? Worth it! Knowing that he'd tear the world apart for you? Worth it! Knowing that he needed you, just as much as you needed him? This made life... Worth it.
He was worth it. Every time, you knew you would choose him over just about anything... Because Envy was worth it. And he always would be.
