Chapter Eight | Tears

She's watching the taxi driver, he pulls away

She's been locked up inside her apartment a hundred days

"It all started with an accident" She said, her eyes not meeting his.

He waited for her to continue.

"An incident of my Brother" She continued her head down.

She was struggling with this and it was no secret to her or Aaron.

But he wanted to know this, so he didn't stop her.

"We were a happy family once. Me, my brother Ron, and my parents. We were happier than we could have ever been Aaron, trust me. I used to be the happiest girl ever" She continued. Her eyes already starting to wet.

She's talking to angels, counting the stars

Making a wish on a passing car

She's dancing with strangers, falling apart

Waiting for Superman to pick her up

In his arms

As she was greeted with silence she continued.

"But that day changed it all. My brother had a fight with my dad about something and he... he just went insane and did the most unthinkable decision he ever could. He went out, drunk, got hungover. And that was the start of the destruction" She felt something wet on her face. Tears.

"He came back all drunk and he" She chocked "He hit dad" She cried.

"Me and my brother were always so close. Closer than you think. We always shared everything and did everything together and god Aaron people said it was impossible to separate us. And I really do wish that it was" She was crying hard now.

He was still silent, as he just put an arm on her shoulder as an attempt to comfort her.

"But it changed. He changed. Nothing was the same since that day. He always drunk and he spends most of the days locked up in the room with his bottle of wines and nothing else. He doesn't study, he never gets out of his room"

"It's like he is nocturnal now. He has no sense of eating anymore, I've not seen him since god knows when. And the truth is I miss him so damn much. I just wish he could come back. He never left for real but he isn't with us for so long"

She cried her heart out now, nothing was holding her back from letting it all out anymore.

She's out on the corner trying to catch a glimpse

Nothing's making sense

She's been chasing an answer

A sign lost in the abyss, this Metropolis

"He was like the force that kept our family together. And since there was not him anymore, there was no family. My parents broke apart. They fought all the time and soon my dad started getting drunk too. The only source of wealth for our family was now my mom. That's it."

"I know it isn't that big but-" She started as she wiped her tears.

But was interrupted as he pulled her in for a hug, and wiped her tears himself. It was not awkward at all if anything it was comfortable.

And then it hit her. All at once. She just told her story to Aaron.
