Chapter Twenty - Two | Fireflies

She woke up the next day to his text which told her that he'll be picking her up at seven at night for some dinner.

She had to say yes, of course. Even though she wanted to stay in the bed and just read a book or maybe sleep. Her life was really having ups and downs right now. She never felt more bipolar in her life than she did now.

She went downstairs for breakfast just to see the normal stuff that she experienced everyday of her so called life. Her father sitting at the table, angrily muttering about something to mom which was scared from dads anger apparently, just like always. And her brother probably in his room drunk like never before.

She decided to not have the breakfast and go back upstairs. Was a normal family really that much to ask for?

At six hours and fifty minutes she had already showered and was wearing a shirt of the band "The Script" and jeans, waiting for the doorbell to ring.

And so it rang, ten minutes later exactly.

"Ready to go?" He smiled when she opened the door. For the first time she felt like he has made some effort on his looks. He was wearing a white T-shirt with jeans of blue and black color mixed. His hair, however were still a mess made by the wind most probably.

"Yes" She said as she followed.

"Where exactly are we going?" She asked once they were in his car.

"Here's a hint, it's not a restaurant" He said as he smiled again, giving her a side glance. His smile made her smile too, it was contagious.

"I need to be home quick, I need to write an application for DOW University" She said.

"DOW University?" He asked.

"Yes, It's a university for Medical. If they provide me scholarship based on my result, that would be a huge favor on me. It will be like a dream come true" She explained.

"Believe it or not, I've always wanted to go their too. In fact I just mailed them last week. Maybe, I can help you with it?" He offered.

"Sure" She shrugged.

He kept driving for about fifteen more minutes until everything started turning really dark with no lights around, and she started getting scared.

"Where are we going Aaron?" She asked, worried.

"I am about to kidnap you, your life is mine now" He laughed evilly at end.

Abbie rolled her eyes but smiled anyway.

Soon he stopped car in the middle of no where, their surrounding completely dark.

However, Aaron probably knew where they were since he pulled her from her arm and made her follow him into the darkness.

"Why are we here for?" She asked.

"Wait" He said.

"Aaron-" She started but she was interrupted by something. Something beautiful.

One by one, little lights started coming into their visibility.

Little light spots flying in the air. Fireflies.

The area surrounding them was in no seconds illuminated by tens, hundreds --- scratch that --- thousands of fireflies. The fireflies were shining so bright and everything was clear now due to their light.

And in all honesty, it was the most beautiful thing she has ever seen in her whole life.

She gasped. Aaron stared at her with a smile, her reaction was just as priceless as he expected it to be.

"What. No. How? Beautiful. Wow. Perfect" She muttered different words, clearly speechless.

"Abbie?" He said and she finally looked at him, forcing her eyes away from the fireflies no matter how hard it was to do so.

"Reason number one, fireflies. Because life is beautiful" He said, and before he realized it Abbie had her arms thrown over Aarons shoulder, as she enveloped him into a hug.
