Your life has changed a lot since you journeyed to Mt. Ebbot and found the monsters. Just as you had suspected, the monsters were not... well... monsters. Humans had made them out to be these terrifying and evil creatures, in reality, they were sweet and caring, just trying to get by in life. Ever since you arrived, you've befriended every monster here in the underground, even the more stubborn ones are acquaintances at least. Seeing as the monsters were so kind, especially more so than the humans above, you had moved in and were staying with Asgore, who has become a father figure to you. He was kind and way more accepting than anyone else you saw as a parental figure (be it an actual parent or friend or such). Even though this place had become your new home, you could tell how unhappy the monsters got when they remembered how this place was their prison. They loved living here, but many of them have never even seen the sun, felt the wind on their face, or even tasted fresh air. You swore to yourself that one day, you'll help them return to the surface, freeing them. But for now, that is an impossible task, for now, all you can do is stay positive for your friends. Today is a new day, and you can worry about that some other time.

Leaving the ruins, you made your way to Snowdin, an all too familiar place where your skelefriends lived. As usual, Papyrus was snoozing away at the guard station as you walked by. The tall skeleton was clearly enjoying the extra set of eyes in the human-watching division of the underground, using it as more of an excuse for his afternoon naps, always saying that you'd let him know if you saw another human.

"Hey Papy," You greeted him, approaching his station.
He opened an eye socket and smiled when he saw it was you, sitting up to greet you.

"Heya there, human. Come to visit the town?"

"Yup. Better not let Sans catch you napping, he'd get his scarf in a twist."

"Nyeheheh. You got that right, (Y/N)."

A smile spread across your face in satisfaction at making Papyrus chuckle. It always seemed to be a competition to see who could make the other laugh first, and now you were in the lead. "Since it's almost your break, why don't you join me?"

He raised a brow and smirked, "Oh? So now it's okay to not do my job?" You rolled your eyes at his playful tone. "Well, I suppose I can skip this one time," he shrugged.

"One time?"

"Yes, one time. I am not just some lazybones who tries to sleep more than work."

You both laughed a bit at the antics that unfolded. It was always a hoot when Pap was around, that's for sure. Your laughs die down as he hops the counter of his station, leaning against it now, "So what do you wanna do first?"

You thought for a moment, lighting up as an idea crossed your mind, "Burgers?"

A smile crossed Papyrus's face, "Sounds great."

You both head that way, chatting up a storm. Before you knew it you were at the burger stand, and somehow ended up holding hands. You both look at one another, gently letting go, "Sorry, kid. I don't know how that happened." Pap began, scratching the back of his skull. Maybe you were imagining it, but you could swear his cheekbones had a light orange hue similar to his hoodie color.

"It's okay," you reply, shifting your weight to hide your embarrassment. In all honesty, it was nice. Despite the fact he was all bone, his hand seemed warm and soft. It left your hand feeling bare and empty without his, making goosebumps creep up your arms.
