Chapter 50

Sid reached hospital and asked for Avu at reception. She guided him. He reached outside the room. A junior doctor came.

Dr.: You are?

Sid: Siddharth Nigam. Avneet Nigam's husband

Dr.: (mumbled) Such irresponsible people

She said under her breath.

Sid: Sorry?

Dr.: You wife had delivered half an hour before. First a girl and then a boy. They have about 10 minutes of difference

Sid: And Avneet?

Dr.: She is tired and weak. She is unconscious for now. But will be alright in sometime

Sid: Can I meet them?

Dr.: Doctor has taken babies for check up and Mrs. Nigam is unconscious. So you need to wait

After few minutes, nurse came with both babies. Sid held them with trembling hands. He looked at them through teary eyes and kissed their forheads. He was so happy taking his two lifelines in his arms. But he didn't know what was coming. Then nurse took them inside.

Soon doctor came and told Avu has got consciousness and he could meet her. He went in to see Avu holding both babies with a smile.

Sid: Avu

As soon as he heard his voice, she looked up with anger in visible in his eyes.

Avu: Ab bhi kyo aaye ho? I was crying for you. I was feeling I am going to die and you were not even there to comfort me

Sid: Avu I was busy in meeting

Avu: (shouted) To hell with your fucking meetings. 9 months Sid. Since 9 months, I am ignoring your behavior. I am like okk he is busy, he is busy. But how much more? I am tired of it. I am sick of you. You don't care about me. Mere nhi to apne bacho ka soch lete. Tum, tumhari meetings, tumhari life. That's what you care about. My whole pregnancy, I craved for your one embrace and you didn't have time for that. I needed your warmth while sleeping. I needed you today. When I needed you the most, you were not there Sid. You were not there

She broke down with that. Anger, hurt, sadness she was controlling and hiding since nine months bursted out today. He went to hold her. But as soon as he touched her, she pushed him away.

Avu: Nooo. Just stay away from me. I don't need you now. Just...just leave me alone. Go do your meetings. Don't come near me. Don't touch me

Sid: Avu....

Avu: (cuts him) Shut the fuck up and leave. Just leave me alone

Sid: Avu listen...

Avu: (cuts him) Mujhe nhi sunna kuch bhi. Chale jaoo yhase. Kuch sunne ko bacha hi nhi. Mujhe rehna hi nhi hai tumhare saath. Let me get discharge and I want divorce from you. I don't want you. I don't need you

Sid: A...a..v..ni

He stammered with his eyes widened.

Avu: (shouted) Just go from here

He left quitely thinking crying and shouting is not good for health. He sat outside. He thought she is just angry and will calm down later.

After few days

Avu was discharged and Sidneet were having a conversation.

Sid: Avu atleast you can listen

Avu: I fucking don't want any explanation. Tum kya samajhte ho khud ko. Mujhe koi rishta hi nhi rakhna tumse. Tumhe kisiki parwa nhi. Firstly you left your family. Now you don't give a shit about me

Sid was hurt but he composed himself.

Sid: Look Avu I understand everything. But our children need us. Please try to under....

Avu: (cuts him) Don't even take my children's name. I can very well bring them up. I fucking don't need you for that. I don't need an irresponsible person like you to bring my children up. I am enough for them. It's much better than getting into everyday fights

Sid: Ok you want divorce na. Alright then be it

He stated coldly and left. They both filed divorce case with mutual consent in family court. The day which is happiest day for parents became saddest day for two of them.

Court gave custody of Rahul to Sid and Sana to Avu seeing their financial conditions. They both were sad to leave one child but by making themselves strong they signed divorce papers. Avu left the city with Sana and set up her small business from home.

Both went to their parents' home after few months by gathering courage. Firstly they were angry but later they forgave them and accepted back.
