Simply The Best - The Hound + Fox

Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams
Speak the language of love like you know what it means
And it can't be wrong, take my heart and make it strong, babe
You're simply the best
Better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I ever met
And I'm stuck on your heart
I hang on every word you say
Tear us apart
Baby, I would rather be dead
In your heart, I see the start of every night and every day
In your eyes, I get lost, I get washed away
Just as long as I'm here in your arms, I could be in no better place

The next 48 hours drug by at a snail's pace. She couldn't wait for her date with Ross - it was all she could think about.

It was funny, because she'd known the man the majority of her life, she dated him for a year, she was best friends with him even longer than that, they had more history than any two people should have - yet she was still so nervous! Her stomach filled with butterflies any time she thought about it. Maybe because it was so different this time. The first time around they were reckless - so full of love and passion that they didn't know how to handle it and it ended up getting the best of them. But this time they were so much more aware of the power their love held, the magic it possessed, and the ability it had to bring them to their knees if they weren't careful. Sometimes loss is the greatest lesson, and in this case, that proved to be true tenfold. Tonight's date represented a starting over - a rebirth. The future was theirs, and she wanted it to start as soon as possible.

She wore a cream colored knee length strapless dress that hugged her curves and accentuated her tan skin. Her long hair fell around her shoulders, holding a light natural wave. After finishing her makeup, she admired herself in the mirror for a bit before adding a spritz of perfume. Suddenly she heard a knock on the door. Maybe this new start with Ross was adding a new ability for her to be ready on time for once! Nah.. she thought.

"I'm coming!" she called out, as she made her way to the front door.

When she opened it, her heart soared. Ross wore a dark gray suit with a blue dress shirt and tie, with flowers in hand. His hair was gelled into a messy perfection.

"Wow." he said, mouth gaping. "You look incredible", he said, as he kissed her on the cheek. "Here," handing her the flowers, "these are for you."

"They're beautiful, thank you!" she said as she brought them to her nose to take in their sweet scent. "Let me just put them in a vase." As she worked on the flowers, she looked up at him, "So, where are we going? You still haven't told me what you have planned for tonight!"

His eyes peered into hers as he flashed her a boyish grin. "You'll see."

"Why won't you tell me where we're going?" she asked, as the taxi made its way through the city. He squeezed her hand and grinned at her proudly. "We're almost there."

She loved the excitement of surprises but hated the waiting part. She was getting very antsy in the back seat of the taxi, but she made herself take a deep breath and relax as she leaned her head on Ross's shoulder. He wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer to him. Honestly, she didn't care where they were going - as long as she was with him, there was nowhere else she'd rather be.

"Alright...", he pulled a silk handkerchief out of his pocket. "I need you to put this on because I don't want to spoil the surprise before we get there."
