A Place We Knew - Dean Lewis

We wouldn't sleep all night with you sitting by my side
And every moment we had stolen was a feeling
'Cause it never mattered where we were, 'cause we were falling in love
'Cause your heart is my home, your heart is my home
Your heart is my home, and I'm not letting go
When I was feeling down, you always picked me up
It didn't matter what I was doing wrong 'cause
I've lived my life without you for too long
But when I walked through the door and I saw your face
Ooh, I knew in that moment that my world had changed.

By the time the cab pulled up to Ross's apartment they could barely keep their hands off of each other. They considered going back to Rachel's but she assumed Chandler would be over, and they wanted their privacy. This night was going to be theirs.

The second his key unlocked the door and they were inside, their lips were on each others', their hands desperately exploring each other. She pulled his jacket off, throwing it on the couch and began to loosen his tie, never letting her lips leave his, symbolizing the truth that they had found each other again and were determined to never let go. They kicked their shoes off as his hands guided her waist backwards towards his bedroom. They reached the foot of the bed and instead of throwing her down in a fit of passion, he pulled back, allowing himself a chance to take in the moment and admire her beauty as the moonlight through the window bounced off of her blue eyes. He gently placed his hand on her face allowing his thumb to gently graze her cheek.

For months he had begged fate to give them another chance because there didn't seem like any other option but to be with Rachel. But in the back of his mind, he always had that gut-wrenching fear that they'd never be in this place again. Yet now, after a stupid mistake, a failed marriage, and another man, they had somehow found each other - against all odds. He knew without a fact they were destined for this.

"Rach... I don't deserve one bit of you."

She placed her hand on his chest, both of their hearts beating wildly as they fought to catch their breaths.

"Yes you do... I just hope that I deserve you." she whispered into the darkness.

In that moment, a vulnerability was recognized between the two of them - two lovers finally ready to put the past in the past, to realize their unique connection to each other, and not afraid to love deeply.

His lips grazed hers as his hands found themselves in her hair. As desperate as their entrance to the apartment was, now it was more important to take it slow. There was no reason to be hurried or needy. Their hearts told them that they had their entire lives left for each other.

As their lips moved together she gently reached for his shirt tail, pulling it out of his pants. She ran her hands up his strong chest from underneath his shirt, determined to memorize every part of him. She unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it off of his shoulders as her hands found his back, running them up and down, as she placed light kisses on his chest.

Their eyes met in the dim moonlight as she pulled back to admire him while her hands slowly worked his belt out of the loops. She was intoxicated by the look on his face - so full of desire and passion. The way his dark eyes peered right into her soul - she couldn't get enough of it. She never wanted to look anywhere else. As she unbuttoned his pants and let them fall to the ground, she never let their gaze falter.

His hands gently moved from her hair to her shoulders and then to her back where his fingers delicately found the zipper of her dress and he slowly pulled it down, allowing her dress to slide down her body. His fingers traced the lacy outline of her bra as he admired the effortless beauty she possessed - the masterpiece that was Rachel Green. Taking his eyes off of her for even one second tonight would be an impossible task and he welcomed the feat.

Still standing at the foot of the bed, both in their underwear, taking in the magnitude of this moment, their lips finally found each other. The feel of his skin against hers was exhilarating and she pressed herself into him, clinging to him tightly. He gently led her onto the bed as their limbs entangled and their tongues danced together. Still, nothing was hurried. They took their time, exploring every inch of each other's body, as if they were seeing each other for the very first time.

It baffled him that she was willing to lay it all on the line for him - and it made him feel an indescribable devotion to her that he couldn't even put into words, but tonight he was determined to show her. Knowing that she had loved him enough to risk losing everything - even during those times when he hadn't been sure that he could do the same - made him certain that she was the only person he could ever be with. They had found each other through everything and they had saved one another - it was as simple as that.

It surprised her still, how vulnerable and tender he could be one moment and how strong and in charge the next, mastering his body in a way that innately knew her every need and desire.

They spent the entire night in each others' arms - not just making love, but creating it. They didn't take their eyes off of each other for one moment, knowing they didn't want to miss one second.

He was so proud that he'd been the one to make her come apart in delight over and over, knowing that he was the cause of it.

As the morning sun began to peek through the window, their bodies intertwined, she marveled at the beautiful man beside her.

A tear ran down her cheek.

Maybe sometimes souls need to be lost before they can find each other.
