A month later...
I was so tired of the day and was ready for it to be over. It was only Wednesday and we have yet to make it through the rest of the week. We had a huge exam in most of the classes tomorrow and Friday would be a free day to do whatever we wanted.
I was tired of studying but I was thankfully done. It was only 8:30 and I was hoping to spare thirty minutes of my time and go see Daniel. I got off my bed and opened the door lightly, seeing if I could hear my mom or my dad. Not seeing anything or hearing them, I close it gently and quietly lock it. Grabbing my sweatshirt, I turn my bathroom light on and close the door.
I run to my window and open it. Slowly and surely stepping on the roof, I shut the window before I walk to the lattice fence and step over. I take a jump off the roof, landing in the grass on my feet with a small grunt.
I stand up and look behind me, making sure I wasn't caught by my parents when I heard a voice from Calum's side of the yard.
"Kenzie?" He called. I turn to see Hood standing there in his grass just staring at me.I put my finger to my lip. "Shh!" I tell him as I walk over to his yard. He walks forward a little and I grab his wrist and pull him aside.
"What are you doing?" He asked with a slight chuckle.
"Going to see my boyfriend," I told him in a whisper.
"You have a boyfriend?" He questioned sarcastically.
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, big surprise!" I said back to him, making him laugh.
"Why are you sneaking out?"
"Because my parents don't know about him," I explained. "Any they think I'm studying." That, I laughed at because I have never seen a time where she isn't studying. "Now please, don't tell your parents and don't tell mine. You never saw me," I said, making it clear. He nodded."Alright, I won't," Calum promised with another slight chuckle.
I let out a sigh. "Thank you." I walk away out of the dark and head back down my grass as Calum speaks up again.
"And I thought you were a good girl," he said, scoffing. I stop, licking the top row of my teeth. First mistake.
I turn on my heel. "Forget that," I said. "Now let me tell you about us good girls. We're just bad girls who haven't been caught." I winked at him before turning back around and heading down the block to go to Daniel's spot in his backyard.
(Calum's POV)
I laughed, watching Kenzie run off her driveway. There's something about her that I don't know what it is. I've only known her a little over a year, but this past month has gotten to me. More than normal. Michael likes to think that I like her. Luke says I'm in love with her and so does Roy. But that's taking it a bit far.
I mean, I love her sarcasm, her laugh, and her smile. She's insanely smart- Oh my god, I like Kenzie!
I ran back inside before heading to my room when Mali stopped me. "Taking out the trash took that long?" She asked me. I stopped in my tracks, not wanting to give up Kenzie's secret like I promised.
I turn around and look at my sister wiping down the counters. "I ran into Kenzie out there. Asked her about an exam," I rolled off. Mali didn't suspect anything and she just nodding, understanding. I turned back around and got to my room, closing the door. Scrambling to my phone, I dial Zoey's number and call her.
"Yello!" She answered.
"Zoey, I have a question," I said.
"Okay. What is it?" She asked nonchalantly.
