(Calum's POV)
We were laying around in our changed clothes in Kenzie's room. We came home from the dance, almost ate an entire box of pizza, before we basically just crashed in her room, everyone sprawled our everywhere. Zoey and Luke were sharing her gigantic bean bag, Roy was laying on a cushion Kenzie brought out, and Michael was just laying face first down into her carpet. I was playing across the door of Kenzie's bed as she was of course, laid out across her bed normally.
My head was resting on her legs and her hand was gently on top of my head. I didn't realize I fell asleep on her bed, even though I never planned to. I lifted my wrist to check my watch, trying to see the time. It was 2:41 in the morning and I couldn't find myself to fall back asleep.
I felt the soft gently hand on my head begin to go through my hair again, signifying Kenzie has woken up. "You okay?" She asked me, her tired voice super groggy.
I nodded on her legs. "Yeah," I assured her. "Just can't fall back asleep." I closed my eyes, loving her gentle touch. Her finger tips lightly grazing the top of my forehead and into my hair.
"I can't either, to be honest," she told me.
"You okay?" I asked her. She quietly hummed a yes to me. Leaving us in a small round of silence, I picked it back up. "Do you want to know something?" I said.
"What's that?"
"I was trying to ask you to the dance as my plus one, but you took it as me asking you to go with all of us." I heard her hand slap against her skin, telling me she palmed herself in the face. I heard her lightly chuckling.
"I thought that's what you were doing but I thought I was overreacting. So I just went with a whole group of us going. But, I'm not complaining either way," she said to me. I chuckled.
"Neither am I," I said, looking up at her. She looked down at me, a small smile on her face. I could barely just see her face from the moonlight peeking it's way through her window blinds. We makeup was just roughly wiped off, but her eyelashes still popped boldly from the mascara as the residue from it remained around her yes like a light eyeliner. Her beach curled hair was tied up in a low ponytail. She look so beautiful. I can't wait for the day she becomes mine.
I turned my body to face her. "It was definitely an interesting night," I said to her.
"Yeah, I'm still feeling like it wasn't real. But I'm still glad it is," Kenzie responded, leaning her head on her first. "I didn't expect that to end the night really for us."
"I was honestly so scared," I admitted to her. It felt like the entire time I poured my heart to her I was on the urge of jumping a bridge. I sounded so calm and relaxed when I talked to her, but on the inside, I was shitting bricks.
"Why were you scared?" She questioned, taking her hand away from my head. I was honestly upset that she did. It felt really nice and was helping me get sleepy again. But I don't wanna stop talking with her either.
"Because I had a feeling you were going to turn me down. What I said was true. You are way out of my limit. But I think also due to the fact we've only known each other for two years and I'd scare you away or something." Kenzie shook her head at me.
"Cal, even if I wasn't mutual, you wouldn't have scared me away. But I definitely would have been scared to see your reaction if I wasn't feeling the same as you. But I do, so it doesn't even matter. And why do you keep saying that?" She asked me, almost sounding a bit frustrated, but the small grin on her face hid the tone in her voice.
"Saying what?"
"That I'm out of your league and out of your limit," Kenzie answered. I bit my look and tried to avoid her eyes, but it wasn't that easy.
