(A Month Later)
It was December and I just finished getting ready for the Winter Formal Dance. The group was on their way over to my house for pictures and Roy and I were gonna split the drive, make it a three and three in each car since I got my license earlier in November.
I finished putting my last heel on before I looked at in the body mirror before my mom opened my door.
"Honey, you look lovely!" She said, her eyes gleaming.
"Thanks mum," I said to her.
"I think Zoey just pulled up so let's go," she said. I followed her out of my room and helped her down the steps since her stomach has been bigger and she struggled down our stairs sometimes. Mum took a few pictures of me in front of our fireplace in the greeting room when I heard a knock at the screen door. My father turned and waved Zoey in.
My best friend stepped in the house in her beautiful lace white that she ended up choosing. Her hair was done up similar to mine, but the front of her hair was up with two strands hanging from her face. "Oh my god, Z, you look beautiful!" I screeched as I walked to her, hugging her.
"You do too, my goodness!"
"My two daughters are growing up so fast," my father said, faking a sniffle. I rolled my eyes in Zoey's hair before releasing her.
"Okay Miss Zoey, I see you're finally out of those jean overalls," Marcus said, coming from the living room.
"Don't play, best believe I still rock those," Zoey told him. Marcus laughed at her as he embraced her in a soft hug. Zoey and I took a few pictures together and a couple of pictures together. "What time is Calum getting here?" She asked me. I turned around to look at the clock. Calum said he'd be here by 6:30 and it was almost five minutes past that.
"Knock knock," I heard outside my door.
"Right now," I told Zoey. "You can just come in, you know you can just walk in," I reminded him. Calum opened the door, turning to make sure it closes behind him.
"It's still better to knock. It's respectful," He said.
"If the door is opened, just walk in son," My father said to Calum, laughing at him. Calum chuckled and turned around once he finally got my old screen door to shut. He stopped in his tracks just about as fast as I got stuck in my own trance. He was wearing the white button up shirt we picked out for him for him in his white dress pants. He got out of his regular old black and white tennis shoes and had nicer white shoes on. His hair was slicked off to the side of his face, the top of his shirt was unbutton as the bottom was tucked into his pants. The shirt was a skin tight shirt compared to the other one's we found but he seemed to have liked that one. I'm glad he went with it. He looked really good. Maybe a little too good.
"You clean up nicer than I thought, kid," Zoey said, breaking me out of my trance. she walked to him, greeting him in a hug.
"Can say the same about you two. You both look stunning," he said, looking at me after he released her.
"You know," I said, trying to remain calm before my knees would give out. "We try out best." I embraced him in a hug. He smelt so good. His cologne could keep me in dazed forever. After we broke out from the hug, Calum joined Zoey and I at the fireplace to get a picture before we broke so he and Zoey could get a photo. I saw Joy and David come up to the door and I waved them in. Joy opened the door and her husband followed her in, Mali joining behind them.
"Honey, you look gorgeous," Joy told me. I smiled at her.
"Thanks Mrs. Hood," I said, giving her a small hug.
