Holden took a deep breath and looked at the two officers. "Take your time, kid", Bubba said, leaning back in his chair, "We have all day". Holden rubbed his eyes, blinked a couple of times and tried to speak, but the words weren't coming out of his mouth. "I was on a trip with my school", he finally said, "We were at Hundersford Camp and this trip had been planned for weeks with the school. I got bored at night though and decided to take a teacher's car and go for a drive". Robert itched the back of his head and sighed. "This little drive didn't just end as a little drive though", Bubba said, "I think you know what we're getting at here". Holden sighed and looked at the officers. "I took a couple of tabs of acid and when I got behind the wheel, I was high. I do not remember a lot after that". The two officers shook their heads and Robert took over talking. "So you took some acid and decided to go out on a drive!", he said, "You were the only person in that car, yes?". Holden nodded his head, "This was all my doing, yes. I was the only person in the car and I decided to take drugs and drive and now 4 people are dead because of me". "Do you remember how one of the victims was killed?", Robert pressed, "3 of them were hit by a car but the 4th was killed in a different way. Any recollection on that?". Holden thought back to last night, but it was all too blurry and he shook his head. Bubba sighed and put his hands on his knees. "You stabbed a police officer, son", Bubba informed Holden, "The officer was stabbed to death. Heavy stuff". Holden began crying and put his head in his hands; he was so done.
When Toby woke up the next morning, he was at home and maybe thought the whole thing had just been a huge nightmare. He went downstairs and saw his mother and father sitting in front of the TV. "Are you guys okay?", Toby asked, leaning on the dining table and drinking a glass of orange juice that was left out from last. "Just a minute", Troy said as the news helicopter did an aerial view of the scene of the hit and run, "The report is on". It then hit Toby like a ton of bricks that last night had been no nightmare. "Take it easy for the weekend, Toby", Camilla said, turning and looking at her son, "It's all over, you don't have to worry". The teenager walked out of the kitchen and sat in the armchair his dad always sat in and watched the TV himself. The news reporter, a man with greying hair informed the audience of the already known details. "This is terrible", Toby mumbled, "I hope the families are okay". Toby hoped Holden was coping okay.
