He looked into my eyes. None of us had to say anything. We knew this could be the end, that we would never see each other again.
No. This was our end.
I watched him getting ready. He put on his black helmet, fixed his gloves while his team was screaming to motivate him. They would tell him all the things that make him mad to raise his anger.
When he was mad, he was faster and that's what they needed. But with speed comes also a big danger. If you go too fast, when you can't control yourself or the machine, it will kill you.
This time he didn't need their help. His rage was already high and he was saving it for the race.
I bit my lower lip. All I could do now was to stand there and watch. I wanted to scream, tell him to stop, but I knew that if I would even try he wouldn't hear me.
All those people that gathered to watch him were screaming with excitement, building the tension in the raceway. The drums played loudly in the beat of all our hearts. Some in the audience started to whistle with their fingers so it would be clearer to hear.
At the moment when I almost felt tears on my face the Old Man came out with a microphone in his hand. People quieted down, knowing that the race is about to begin. There was just a dead silence for a few seconds. It was a silence I knew will kill me.
This was my chance to change things. I know that from all these people that were here I was the only one that could end this madness. I just had to do it, I had to fight.
I stood up and those that sat next to me looked up a little confused. Just a second before the Old Man raised his voice I broke the silence.
"Jerome!"
All the eyes landed on me. I got all the attention, even though I tried to avoid this moment for my whole life. But now, here I stand, more than a hundred people watching me. All of them, except him.
Please, look at me.
But he didn't. Now, he was ignoring me because he already said his goodbye. He had his back on me, ignoring me, behaving like a spoiled child, but I knew he had a different past.
He changed me. He embarrassed me, made a fool out of me, created this unexpected need to make sure he's safe and alive. He used my heart against me, but I guess I did the same thing with him.
We could just not agree to this. We could just walk away and never look back, but we didn't.
And now, I regret it.

Hey there!
If you don't know me my name is Olivia and I'm a really bad writer (Update: an immature writer ;D). No, I'm not kidding. And yet, I write! Why - you probably wonder. Well, maybe it's because while I write I improve myself as a young writer or just because writing is my hobby and I like to do it in my free time.
Those who maybe check my account often know that THA was here before. It had only one chapter and while I was working on the second I realize that it was horrible. So I deleted it and worked on the plot and characters.
Hopefully, this time it will work or make sense, at least.
I hope you'll enjoy our little journey into cliche romantic story (because all romances are cliche and I love it!).
The release of the story (Chapter 1) will be on April 21st so stay tuned!
Have a great day!
Olivia G.
