Jerome's P.O.V.

Angel was screaming in her sleep.

She woke everyone up and almost gave me a heart attack. I ran to her room (I mean, my bedroom) and saw her body on the floor. She was moving her hands and legs, like she was trying to protect herself from something.

Her cheeks were red, so I checked if she had a fever. Nope, she's fine. Well, not completely.

It wasn't the first time when I could witness her having a nightmare. On her first night living with Mike and I, she was kicking her legs and talking in her sleep. Mike wanted to call 911, but I didn't want him to do it. It was just a dream. Besides, I didn't want her to wake up in the hospital, without even knowing why and how did she end up there.

She would freak out.

I wasn't sure at first what to do, but after trying few things I learned a way to calm her down, without waking her up.

I picked up her phone and turned on one of her favorite playlists, which she named "Ella's Sass". It was a list of 14 songs by Ella Fitzgerald. Honestly, I would never guess Angel had such a taste in music. I was pretty sure she was into Justin Bieber, or something like that.

I put the phone on the floor next to her. As the melody started playing, it took only several seconds to see the results. Angel's legs and arms stopped moving, no words came out from her mouth and she finally found peace.

But I knew sooner or later, it'll happen again. I really needed to talk to her about this. One day, she will seriously hurt herself.

Not like I care, or something.

Okay, I do care, but only because she's under my protection, until the Old Man trusts her enough to let her go. I just can't wait for that day. I miss my room and my bed. The sofa is nice, but it's not as good as my comfy bed.

"Goddammit, this woman" Mike's sleepy voice entered the room, as I was getting Angel into my arms, so I could move her back to the bed. "I told you she's crazy."

I glanced towards my friend and saw him, resting his back on the door, his arms crossed on his naked chest.

I knew Mike wasn't Angel's biggest fan and that was fine with me, but I was wondering why. They rarely talk to each other, they didn't know each other before she moved in with us. Or is there something I don't know?

"She's just... stressed" I explained, while I covered Angel with the blankets we gave her few days ago.

She moved to the side, her back towards me, as she moved closer to the center of the bed, hugging one of the pillows. I moved her phone to the night table, letting the song continue to play.

"Stressed?" Mike raised his eyebrow, staring at me, while I moved towards the living room.

"Her best friend is a murderer and now is in Tigers hands. No wonder she has nightmares."

I sat on the sofa, turning the TV on. Mike sat beside me, staring at the blond news lady, but I knew his thoughts were completely somewhere else.

"You're too nice to her, Rome" he finally said. "I know you can be very sensitive towards women, especially that your mother-"

"Let's not talk about my mother, okay?"

Mike knew too much. About me, about my past, about Angel, about everything. Which is why I kept him so close to me. If we weren't friends, let's just say I might or might not be dead right now.

He always knows more than he says. He appears to be wild, mean and unimportant, but in that little head of his are secrets I don't even know, which sometimes makes me go mad. And sometimes I get suspicious towards my best friend.

"Fine, but we need to talk about miss Princess" he moved his brown eyes from the TV screen to me. "We both know that with time, she will realize who she is and then we're screwed. If she finds out before we do something about it, Old Man and Tigers will be pissed."

"Old Man already knows. He was the first one to find out."

"How?"

"Newman met her. He told Old Man about a loud girl who kept asking him way too many questions about his jacket."

Newman was one of the OCA, just like Old Man. He likes to tell everyone that all members of OCA, besides him, are dead so no one would ask unnecessary questions. Old Man is not stupid, he knows what's he's doing.

Usually.

Newman created Phoenix and he's my grandfather. It's weird to call a former illegal racer and member of a street gang "Grandpa" so I decided that it's unnecessary to call him that way. Besides, he was never meant to be a role model in any way. Which is probably why my mom is the person she is.

Yes, touchy subject. Won't talk about it.

What's more interesting is Angel's blood involved in street gangs, like Phoenix, Moonlights and specificity Tigers. Her old papa created Tigers, just like mine did for Phoenix and he was also an OCA. And this time, he is actually dead. Out grandfathers were friend and companions who loved competition - at least, that's what Old Man said.

I don't know a lot about Angel's family. All I know that if she or Tigers find out the truth, things will get more serious than just winning money.

"Do you think she has any clue?"

I shacked my head.

"No, she's too focused on Quinn right now."

"Yeah, about that..."

Mike sighed, moving his hand around the back of his neck.

"We need to call Kile."

"Yeah, we do."

A nervous laugh came out from his mouth.

"Oh man, he's going to be so fucking mad."

"Yeah, he will"

Okay, on a serious note though, I hope this shorter chapter explained a little bit more and made things clearer. I would recommend you to put on the seat belts because the action might go faster than I originally wanted it to be.
