We planned to meet in front of the Joker Card, the comic store in which I got my first comic book. And also Quinn magically disappeared.
After seeing Quinn and his tattoo I realized I really need Jerome's help. Maybe I didn't like him and I would prefer to stay in my little dark room, but this is an extraordinary situation. We no longer live as high school students and this is not another big drama. This is a serious problem. Quinn could be in danger and who knows better how to get out of trouble than Mr. Troublemaker himself?
I didn't know how to contact him and I didn't see him around campus since the day he came to my apartment. I decided to go to one of his ex girlfriends and ask her for his number. I knew it was a bad idea in so many ways, but recently I have been making a lot of poor decisions so I can handle another one.
Hannah looked at me like I just came to her with mud all over my face. When she heard his name she looked discussed. The thing with Jerome's ex girlfriend is that they either still passionately love him after the break up or passionately want to kill him. Not hard to guess on which side Hannah was.
"Fine, but be careful. Jerome is a selfish d!ck. He will keep secrets from you and lie all the time."
I knew that something was wrong with him. Everyone knew that, but no one wanted to go to him and ask him in the face what was he hiding. Apparently some of his girlfriends asked and he immediately broke up with them. He was hiding something. He had to be a criminal.
I couldn't stop thinking about it, while I was waiting for him. It was a little colder that day. The wind was strong and I knew that in couple of weeks winter will come to the city. As much as I hated that season, I had more important things to worry about.
I sighted, looking at my watch. He was 15 minutes late.
Classy, Mr. Walls.
Then I heard a loud mechanical roar. I looked up and I saw Jerome stopping in front of me with his black motorcycle. He took off his helmet, fixing his hair with one hand. watching me from the corner of his eye.
You have to be kidding me.
"Hop in, Cupcake. I'm taking you for a ride."
I tried to stay calm. I'm NOT putting my butt on that thing. Never. They are dangerous and you can die within one second after going on a street. So many people get injured or see death himself because of those vehicles. Especially, people like Jerome.
"We were suppose to discuss our deal, not go on a road trip."
He smiled lightly, showing me his white teeth.
"And we will, but not here. Come on." he moved his hand nonchalantly, preparing to put on his helmet back, but after noticing I didn't move a little bit, he froze for a moment. Staring at me, he tried to make an eye contact, but I wouldn't let him. He doesn't have to know about my fear.
"Are you scared, Cupcake?" he asked and smiled again. He turned off the motorcycle and while holding a helmet in his hand he got up and came towards me. "Are you?"
I shaked my head, looking straight at him, trying to show him I'm not a little baby. This little baby only cries inside, not outside so everyone can see. Yes, I was mentally crying my eyes out.
"Are you scared of Lucifer" he kept waking, forcing me to back up until I felt a wall against my back "or me?"
Okay, first of all, Lucifer? Is that the name he gave this death machine? Really original. Second of all, was I afraid of Jerome? Most certainly, but I needed him like I never thought before. He also needed me, which gave me a little push to actually talk back. I will not let him be the boss here.
