Chapter 13: Love square

Beck's POV

There were no words that could possibly describe Lorrie Peterson. She was cool, funny, compassionate and pretty. I thought I would never have a chance with her. "I do not like Liam. Not as much as I thought."

Hearing those words made me so happy. Exactly the opposite of what I felt when I realized what I had to do.

After I dropped Lorrie at her house I had to go meet up with Liam. We agreed he would calm down and then we'll sit and talk about it at the local bar.

When I got there he was already waiting.

-"Guess someone finally decided to show up" - he said.

-"Sorry dude. I dropped Lorrie off at her house."

He was drinking when I told him and he nearly choked.

-"Do you...guys have something going on then?"

-"No....not yet."

Liam was silent for a moment.

-"Good for you, man. Lorrie is cool."

He tried playing it off cool but I knew he wasn't feeling okay at all.

-"What about you? Are you willing to forgive Ally?"- I asked.

He looked at me with disbelief written on his face.

-"Of course not. For now. Actually I want to hit her right where it hurts. Like asking someone else out. Or even better. Asking one of her friends out."

This was a horrible idea. Liam was a really good guy, but he had problems with his anger from time to time. " He is just saying that, cause he's pissed. He'll forget about it tomorrow."- I thought to myself.

-"Well I can't ask Lorrie out since she's yours, but I can still ask Mina out."

Mina?! Oh he can't be serious right now. I grew up with her. We might have never been close but I was willing to protect her as an old friend of a friend.

-"You can't do this. Mina has feelings too. Liam I told you earlier: snap.out.of.it."

He was about to say something, but then stopped. Maybe he realized his intentions were wrong.

-"You're right. I'm going crazy. But maybe I should actually ask Mina out, you know. She is very intelligent, which is a quality I'm looking for in women. She is also pretty, kind, loving and hardworking."

His words were really sweet. Maybe he did like Mina. But what about Ally? They may be close friends but they were nothing alike. Plus how quick does he loose and gain feelings? Or did he like both?

-"What about Ally? How did you get attracted to her? She is nothing like Mina."

Liam sighed and took a minute to say something:

-"Ally is very sweet. She is gentle, pretty, smart, very positive and bubbly."

I knew he was sad he couldn't go on that date with her. But it was obvious. Ally and Tony had something going on. And it was still unclear if Liam could compete with it.

-"So do you like both or what?"

-"Yeah. I like both. But enough about me. Now you tell me. What do you like about Lorrie?"

As I said earlier no words could possibly describe her.

-" She is smart, pretty, funny, cool and just awesome."

-"You seem pretty interested in her, huh?"

-"Yeah..."

We stayed in silence for a while. And I liked it that way. I was in the company of my friend, while also just being able to take a breath.

-"You know..."- Liam started- "I also like the adventurous side she has."

Something about the way he said it made me realize something. It just clicked. He also liked Lorrie. He liked all three of them. They were in something like a love square. And both me and Tony were sucked in.

-"Liam. I won't be mad so please just be honest. Do you Like Lorrie?"

He looked at me. He was hesitant to say something, but he eventually did:

-"My feelings towards both Mina, Ally and Lorrie are complicated."

He tried asnwering as neat as possible. But my curiosity was killing me.

-"If you had to pick one, who would you choose?"

He was silent. This time he really didn't know what to say.

-"I don't know.."

Of course. I didn't expect him to actually know the answer. Or tell me.

I tapped him on the shoulder as a "it's alright" gesture.

-"I gotta go Liam. It's getting late. But I'll see you tomorrow."

-"Alright. See you dude."
