Embarrassment

Izzy's POV

I walk into the room with speed, not bothering to knock on the door, and am stopped abruptly by a wall of people standing in front of me,
"And Simon, this is your female counterpart" I hear Clary say from in front of me and I flash a smile to the boy who was standing as part of the wall. He turn around, dropping Jace's hand in the process, and he looks at me with confused eyes. A pregnant pause follows where all eyes are on me that's when the boy, Simon, faints. Yes, that's right, he drops to the ground. My first reaction is to try and catch him, unfortunately I have a my handbag over one shoulder which swings into his gut as I lunge forward. I cringe, then realise Clary lunged as well and we definitely slowed down his fall. "We need to lie him on his side, Jace get something to fan him with, Alec get some water" I call out as orders. The whole room bursts into action, Clary an I flip him over and she races of to find him a pillow, Jace races around the room looking like a headless chicken, he can't seem to find something good enough to wave in the air? Really? Alec runs to his closet and grabs a full water bottle from his stash, I just watch this whole scene unfold.

Simon's POV

I wake up hazey and disorientated, I open my eyes and see a dark angel hanging over me, what has happened? All I remember is finding out Clary has a boyfriend, then what? It all suddenly starts to come back a beautiful girl, a friend? Then everything went black. My head is sore an I'm dizzy, I feel like throwing up. It sounds like people are running around me. I close my eyes agin to stop the dizziness. I blink a couple times and the dark angel looks at me, "He is awake" she whisper yells to the others in the room, "quick with the fan Jace", I them feel a cool breeze over my face. Clary, I can hear her know, "Simon? Are you okay? You just fainted? Do you need water?",
"Mmhhmm" I mumble and there is more movement from the people in the room, no not only the dark angel is hanging over me, but so is Clary, and she has a water bottle. "Who are you?" I ask lifting my arm a bit to point at the angel,
"I'm Izzy, Clary's friend", and then I remember. I just fainted because I was shocked by this girls beauty, along with the news of Clary's boyfriend. I'm so embarrassed. I can't believe I just fainted in front of this beautiful girl. I cringe, and both girls start to worry I'm in pain, but I'm not, that is unless the bruise on my ego counts.

After a little argument with Clary about me sitting up, she thinks I should just lie on the ground like a pussy in front of this beauty, I sit up and the blood rushes to my head; ouch. I have a head ache. I chug some water with watchful eyes on me. "Ya good?" Clary says,
"Yeah, I will be".

Jace's POV

"Well why don't we all go for a walk, around campus?", I say wanting to release some of the awkward tension in the room,
"Yeah, some fresh air might help you Simon" Clary suggests, "why did you faint anyway?", All eyes are on Simon,
"Oh I think it was just heat flush" he says unconvincingly.

It was total silence as we got up and left the dorm, until Clary started making small talk with Simon, catching up on his life. Man, I can see why he sticks around as a friend, Clary is so upbeat and chatty around him. I don't really think Simon and I will be the best of buddies, he's not my type. He looks like a weak, lanky 14 year boy in a 17 year olds life. I can see why Clary decided he wasn't boyfriend material.

We walk over the courtyard and out to the girls dorm so they can grab change quickly, its is warmer than I thought. We arrive at their door and Izzy unlocks it and strides in, with Clary, Alec and I in tow. Simon looks like he doesn't know if he should come in so Clary backtracks and yanks his arm inside. For having a girl as a bestfriend all his life he sure is awkward around girls rooms. "Do you guys just want to stay in instead of walking on campus more?" Izzy suggests,
"It's just getting a bit hot outside",
"Okay" Simon says out of nowhere,
"Sure?" says Clary quizzically.

Clary's POV

I need to talk to Simon, ASAP. He's acting weird and I want to know if he is cool with my new friends. I whisper-yell "Simon!" and flick my head towards the bathroom, "we'll be right back". I open the bathroom door for Simon to walk in the close it behind me. "Are you good? Cos you're acting a bit weird?",
"Yeah, I'm fine, it's just it's all a bit overwhelming for me." He starts, "I was expecting some muscly girl roommate as your new friend not a modern beauty and certainly not two intimidatingly attractive male friends, one of which is your boyfriend? Since when do you date?" Simon whisper yells at me, "and since when do you date tall dyed blonds?". What was all of that?,
"What can I say, this place has made me have to adapt, these people are my new family away from home. I hope you don't feel replaced, these guys have really made me feel welcome." I say in return, "And Jace, he kinda just hit me like a bus. I think you guys mightn't get along but he's a good guy. You don't have to worry. Plus, he's naturally blond" ".
Simon looks at the ceiling and takes a deep breath in then puts one are around my shoulders and whispers, "I was kinda hoping you wouldn't like it here so you would come home. It's not that I don't want you to be happy, I just really am missing you, all the time",
"But you have to realise this is my life now Simon, I have no choice, Izzy, Alec and Jace are making this change better for me. I hope you can accept I will be the same girl you have known all your life just a little more distant and bad-ass", that earns me a giggle, a nervous one. Simon says "I know we can't go back to normal, I am really happy that you fit in so well it's just going to be a big adjustment for me too.",
"I love you Simon, we can do this together".

We walk out of the bathroom to find the boys picking out a movie on Netflix and Izzy collecting pillows to arrange into a floor couch. Of all that Simon said one things stuck out to me, "a modern beauty", what a radiant way of describing Izzy, on fashion, utterly gorgeous and naturally flawless. A modern beauty.
