Clary's POV

"You will be absolutely fine Clary, you have nothing to worry about!" Mum insists as we pack the last of my stuff into the car,
"I still don't understand why I have to board at school even though its a 3 minute drive from here!" I fire back, I am genuinely confused by this matter,
"Well, like I said Clary, I want to put you in an environment where you can make Shadowhunter friends, and I also don't want to give them another reason to feel your different. If you just stay there with the rest of them you will be better off, I promise." Mum says, stopping what she is doing and looking into my eyes with great conviction,
"I'm still not happy about this!" I say,
"Well look Clary," Mum starts, "When I was your age I would have given anything to have good friends, or have parents like me who at least make an effort to make making friends easier. When I got a bit older I made more friends, an I was a lot happier. School will be fine, boarding will be fine, you will make friends, an you will be happy! All you need to do now is put in some effort, I'm sure you won't regret it." Mum says before climbing into the car, not waiting for a reply. I jump in and sit waiting to the endure the silent, 3 minute, car ride.

When we get there I jump out and go to the backseat of the car and start unloading bags. At first glance Raziel High looks like a rundown old apartment complex, I guess they try to cover up the hopeless amounts of teenagers with moving boxes by making it look like we are moving into apartments. Really this is just a "glamour" a type of force field/ spell that covers up the shadow world, making something out of the ordinary, look mundane. Raziel High is on the outskirts of town by all the warehouses, not exactly prime real estate, so that's why no mundane ever wants to live here. Behind the glamour, Raziel High is really a truly magnificent campus, maybe living here won't be so bad.

I already know my room number and have my key from orientation day, but I am yet to find out my roommate. I carry a box of my new clothes across the car park and over towards the girls dorm area. Suddenly I bump into someone and am thrown of kilter and onto the ground. "I'm so sorry I couldn't see over the top of my box!" I half yell from the ground at the girl I ran into,
"Oh no it's fine, I wasn't looking where I was going, no harm done!" The girl says offering me a hand up. When the glare of the sun stops blinding me I see that the girl is Isabelle! I gasp and exclaim, "Isabelle, it's me Clary, from the gear shop?",
"Oh, it is, I'm sorry I didn't recognise you!" Isabelle says,
"No it's fine, it took me a while to recognise you to!" I said with a smile. When we finally compose ourselves Isabelle asks which dorm I'm living in,
"Oh, number 194" I say confidently showing her my key,
"Well isn't that a coincidence! We're roommates!" Isabelle exclaims, I am shocked, and I just stare blankly for a second. What were the chances that the only other shadowhunter I have met turns out to be my roommate, there must be a God out there somewhere! "Cool!" I say, "Have you already settled in?",
"Yep I just came out to explore campus, but I can help you move in, where is your car?" she says. We walk back to the car and load ourselves up with more boxes and head of to number 194.

"So I guess we should get to know each other considering we will be spending a lot of time together." Isabelle says once she finished helping me to unpack my stuff. Our room is surprisingly spacious for a two person dorm, that's something to be happy about. I have a double bed, desk, wardrobe and a set of drawers. We also share a couch, a full length mirror and a vanity. Maybe leaving home wasn't such a bad idea. "What do you want to know?" I reply,
"Are you single?" Isabelle asks,
"Yeah, how about you?" I ask knowing this was a stupid question, of course she had a boyfriend, I was just being polite,
"Yeah I am, I'm trying out the single life" Isabelle replies, I am slightly gobsmacked but I compose myself before she asks her next question,
"I hope you don't mind, but now getting you a boyfriend has become a top priority of mine. Your a new face at this school, so I think you have a pretty good chance of snagging a goody!" She says,
"Wow, sure, but now you have got me worried about first impressions!" I say, actually a bit excited while still having an underlying feeling of worry,
"You will be fine with a bit of my help. Anyway there is a party tonight at my brothers place and I need to help them set up, I'm sure they wouldn't mind you tagging along." Isabelle assures me,
"Sure but you have to tell me who to stay away from and who to associate myself with" I offer,
"No problem, I find myself an expert on those matters".

While they both do their hair and makeup Isabelle, who insists I call her Izzy, clues me up on the people of Raziel High. She knows a fair bit considering this is her second year here, she also knows a fair bit about fashion and makeup and insists she help me with my outfit. Of course I oblige knowing if I want to look banging for the guys I will need her help, she even lets me borrow some stuff of hers because I 'Don't own a suitable dress or pair of heels', I know what we'll be doing tomorrow! "Don't go near Rich or Josh and their crew, they're well known for screwing around, I mean unless that's what your going for?" Izzy tests,
"Ah no, thank you!" I say, we laugh and slip on our skintight mid thigh length dresses, I have got to admit, I look good!

"So where are you from? I mean are you from round here or not?" I ask Izzy as we walk across campus to the boys dorms, they like to make it hard for girls and guys to mingle,
"Yeah, I'm from the New York institute. The only reason I board here is because my Mum wants us to get into the teenage shadowhunter community and make friends" Izzy says,
"Hey same here! That's what my mum said!" I laugh, maybe this stunning girl has more in common with me than I thought. Izzy talks about life at the institute noticing I'm pretty new to the idea, I should probably tell her my back story so she knows why I'm so clueless. That's a story for later though because now we need to party hard.
