Clary's POV
"TGIF!" Izzy calls across the training room, we have been training for 4 hours. We just had training for class and now we are doing some extra after school. " IKR!" I call back, Izzy is practicing flips while I practice with her whip, its funny how close we have grown in the past week, Izzy can seem like a very unapproachable person to most onlookers, but she saw something in me and decided to give me a chance. She says it has something to do her growing up in a family of boys, it's hard to connect with girls when you really haven't any early experience. I guess that's something we have in common, her best friends are her brothers and my best friend is like a brother to me, what we both need is a girl friend. "How is Jace? I mean, how is he holding up after the whole mum thing?" Izzy asks,
"Ah I don't know, I haven't really talked to him since breakfast and he was pretty quiet then",
"Oh, I thought you might have chatted it out more" says Izzy wandering over to me,
"Nah, it must be a sensitive subject for him",
"Sure, I guess" says Izzy, "We should get back and cleaned up for the big apology",
"Yeah let's do it" I say half heartedly, is Jace okay? I wonder, I will try and send him a message. I think hard 'Jace needs to hear this' then 'Jace?',
'Clary?',
'Yeah it's me, how are you holding up?',
'Fine',
"Yeah? Oh that's good, just finishing up training and heading back to get changed',
'Oh yeah, well I will see you soon',
'Okay, bye',
Even in message you can hear the sad tint to his tone, he's not happy.Along with the tint in his tone, the look on his face isn't promising. I open the door to find Jace and Alec waiting behind, both without smile. I invite them in to wait while Izzy finishes her makeup, so they wander in. I give Alec a hug and then Jace. He has this great scent, of what I could only describe as sunshine, I don't know what that smells of but it involves a certain warmth and brightness. I breakaway and smile at him to show that i am alright and that he has nothing to worry about and he smiles weakly back. "Okay, I'm ready, lets get on the road" says Izzy. we start to make more conversation in the cab, Alec voted to sit in the front, while we sit in the back, "So here's the deal, we go in, let her offer you a drink, take it, sip it, we get to the point, then make a move to leave" Izzy suggests,
"Okay, so in and out is the plan" I clarify,
"Yes, and we are definitely going to make this as fast as possible" Jace says, I squeeze his hand and smile, I send him a message (This is what I am calling the telepathy thing btw) 'everything is going to be alright'. I have already turned my phone off to prevent rude interruptions and I have tucked my stele into my waistband, I'm ready to prove my worth, that is if I need to anymore.Simon's POV
I have rung Clary four times and have had no answer, I hope for both of our sakes she is just sleeping or has her phone off, and she is not in a club with loud music or something. I make the rash decision to go to her mother, maybe she can point me in the direction of Clary's new school, I really need to talk to her. I knock on Jocelyn's door and wait for her answer, "Hello Simon, what do I owe the pleasure of your presence?",
"Well I came to talk about Clary",
"She isn't here Simon" Jocelyn replies,
"No, not talk TO her, ABOUT her",
"Oh, okay, come in"."What's up?" Jocelyn asks as she ushers me into the sitting room,
"I just worry a bit about Clary, I mean I get she has a cool new life but I haven't properly talked to her for days and she keeps missing my calls.",
"Well she was around here yesterday, she sounded busy but otherwise fine" Jocelyn reassures me, "I'm sure she doesn't mean to not be in contact", he motherly words are somewhat convincing,
"Is there any way you could tell me where she is so I could visit her?" I ask,
"I don't know Simon, the place she is at isn't a walk in kind if place, she would have to bring you there herself" Jocelyn says with an unsure tone, "the best I can do is talk to her, but it seems like you have tried, maybe call later tonight",
"Sure Jocelyn, thanks anyway"I really hope she is right, I hope that Clary is only busy not ignoring me.
Clary's POV
"I'm sorry if the first impression you got of me was a bad one, I promise I will do my best to prove your first thoughts wrong, that I am a good influence on your kids and I'm not crazy or a liar" I say basically as soon as I get in the door, I need to get everything off my chest, "I guess I can sort or see where you were coming from, I thought the same of my mum when she told me of the shadow world, but you have to give me a little faith.",
"I'm sorry for my actions, I couldn't help what was crossing my mind but I do hope we can get along, now that I know I will be seeing you more often, with you being friends with my kids and all" Maryse says in return,
"Just because you said sorry doesn't mean we can all be friends suddenly!" Jace snaps,
"It's fine Jace, I accept your apology, and I do hope we can get along Maryse" I say giving Jace a look,
"It's not fine" Jace mutters before Izzy thwacks him onto arm.We don't want to endure the awkwardness any longer so Izzy suggests we just pop up to her room to grab some of her old gear for me them leave, of course their was much resistance from Maryse but Jace ensured she knew we meant business. "You handled that well Clary" Izzy comments on our way to her room,
"Thanks, it all just kinda came out",
I receive a thoughtful look from Alec and an arm rub from Jace, I know this was hard for all of them. One thing is playing on mind, the reason we came to see Maryse in the first place was to ask her advice about my power, and we actually haven't addressed that yet, I say nothing because I don't want to increase the tension.Simon's POV
I ring Clary again before I go to bed, maybe she is free to chat now?,
"Hey Clary? Its Simon here",
"Simon, thank God, I miss you so much!" It's great to hear her voice and to know she is missing me,
"I have been missing you too, you have kinda drifted of the face of the earth for a couple days, I thought you must have been really busy",
"Yeah, I have has a lot going on, a little drama, but I have sorted it all out",
"I'm glad to hear, now I was just wondering when you would be free to hang out? I mean I would love to see the place you're staying, and talk to you again" I say hopefully,
"Oh Simon, um it would have to be Sunday, I'm busy tomorrow. Why don't I meet you at Java Jones and then I can bring you over", I am so relived I think I even sigh a bit with relief, I'm so happy,
"Great, that sounds great Clary, I won't keep you cos it sound like you need the sleep but you don't know how much I have missed you",
"Love you too Simon" Clary says, and we say our goodbyes, I feel do much better.Clary's POV
"Hey Izzy that was my friend Simon, can he come over on Sunday? I mean like will he be able to come to Raziel? See it I mean?" I ask,
"Yeah sure if the school decides he is a worthy mundane, it will show its self to him, not many mundane a have walked these halls but your case is different, I'm sure it will be fine" Izzy replies, "now get some beauty sleep, we all need it for another big day tomorrow", I really like her, I don't know how I would have survived Raziel without her to be honest. Today was the end of a hectic school week, and I'm ready for a lie down and a tea, but I know the weekend won't bring relaxation time and bliss just more of the same training and studying probably. Oh well that's what happens when you start a new year at school.---------------------➰---------------------
I hope this short chapter is okay for the moment, more to come. Don't be afraid to comment what you think will happen next or just any feedback or notes you have, I would love to hear from you!
Xx,
Emily
