Chapter 9: Midnight mission

After a few more hours, team 7 and Anko reached at Tazuna's house. His daughter, Tsunami, welcomed them and offered a room for Kakashi to rest.

"Here, brat!" Anko said, after she was sure that Kakashi is safe.

Sasuke turned towards her and looked surprised seeing the summoning scroll for Ryuchi Cave. From his previous knowledge, the scroll was in Orochimaru's hands and yet, he was staring at it.

"What's that?" he asked, frowning.

Naruto and Sakura watched the interaction in silence. More than that, they hope to get some answers for why the big three unexplored sage regions were searching for them, since Katsuyu refused to tell Sakura.

"That's the summoning scroll for Ryuchi Cave!" She replied, but seeing the bewildered expression on the Uchiha's face, she decided to explain the situation better. "Two weeks ago, I was reverse summon by the White Snake Sage, asking me to bring you to her. She even took the summoning scroll from Orochimaru and said to give it to you!"

Sasuke massaged his temples. He forgot how chaotic this woman was when she explained things, but at least he got the message. For some reason the White Snake Sage decided that he is more worthy than Orochimaru. The Uchiha was certain that the snake sannin was fuming with rage and if the man will ever find out that he has the scroll, he will not have a second of peace.

"What I must do?" Sasuke asked, sighing and pretending to have no idea how he must act.

Anko rapidly explained the use of the scroll and showed him the hand signs. Sasuke nodded at her explanation and proceed with the jutsu. As soon as his hand touched the scroll, he felt a mysterious power dragging him away. It wasn't the first time it happened and he didn't panic. He waited quietly for the transportation to end.

An extremely large snake, many times the size of a human, appeared in front of Sasuke. His massive body wrapped in thick coils, along them having yellow circular bands. On his head there is a hat with two pointed edges and a red orb on top along with an orange headdress. Around its neck the snake sage also wears a chain with a green orb.

"I've been expecting you, Uchiha Sasuke!" the snake said, carefully studying the boy.

"So I've heard, but I want to know why are you searching for me?" Sasuke asked, without bothering with small talk.

"Quite impatient, are we?" the snake hissed, being displeased with the Uchiha's attitude.

"I'm in the middle of a mission. I have no time for idle chat!" the raven haired replied, as irritated as the snake herself.

They stared at each other for a while. Sasuke wanting to leave this place already and the White Snake Sage trying to understand why was HE looking for this brat. The only thing outstanding about the Uchiha was that he had the power of six path.

"Boy, tell me. Do you know anything about this word from before the Six Path Sage?" the white snake sage asked, after she couldn't get a thing from the Uchiha.

"From before?" Sasuke asked for confirmation. "I know about Kaguya!" he replied, eventually.

The snake lifted his head and look towards something, before nodding. Sasuke felt perplexed seeing the creature's actions. It gave him the impression that it was communicating with someone. Better said, it was like listening to somebody. But that made no sense since nobody else was around. He sensed no chakra fluctuations and seeing that he was ignored, he decided to ask.

"You aren't strong enough yet. Keep training and visit me again at a later date!" The snake said, closing her eyes and going to sleep.

Sasuke looked at the creature with a deadpan expression. He didn't understood what the hell happened. He wanted answers, but all he got was that he was too weak. His pride hurt at that statement. He was Uchiha Sasuke, the Seventh Hokage's Shadow and one of the two most powerful shinobis in the word. He wanted to attack and teach the damn snake a lesson, but before he could, he was transported away from the Ryuchi Cave.
