ACT FIVE
[INT. DOWNTOWN WAREHOUSE - DAY]
[Tense. The TAC-Team moves slowly through oil drums, machine parts, and crates, making their way through the warehouse. Keith, Hunk, and Pidge are on point. A beat after they pass, Lance arrives behind them. Creeping along. The TAC-Team move silently, working their way to the back offices. Tension is thick until... Veronica's voice echoes Lance! Lance! Lance! through the room. The TAC-Team turns and Lance winces. His cell phone just received a text message. He mouths, "It's me," and reads the text: "911!!!! - Call Home ASAP!!! Veronica." ]
LANCE (whisper)
I'm gonna... I'm gonna just get that.
KEITH (mouths)
Go.
LANCE (mouths)
Sorry.
[Lance creeps out of the warehouse. The TAC-Team continues forward. Lance dials his cell.]
KATELYN (voice)
Hi.
LANCE
Veronica? What's wrong?
KATELYN (voice)
Lance! Guess what?
LANCE
Katelyn?
KATELYN (voice)
I found a place!
[INT. McCLAIN'S LOFT ]
Katelyn, all excitement, is standing in Lance's loft, holding a glass of wine.
KATELYN(CONT'D)
A perfect place! It's light. Spacious. And only a million six.
LANCE
The text said "Veronica." It said it was an emergency.
KATELYN (giggles)
Well, how else was I gonna get you to call me back?
LANCE
But... Are you at the loft?
KATELYN
Mmm. I was in the neighborhood and had to pee, so I had Eduardo let me in. So, I called the realtor, and
here's the thing. I may need you to co-sign the loan.
LANCE
Katelyn, we broke up. I'm not gonna co-sign a loan for you.
KATELYN
It's for Veronica, too. I mean, it's only a one bedroom, but you want her to be comfortable when she
visits, right?
LANCE
Look, can I call you back? I'm right in the middle of capturing a very dangerous Nigerian drug lord. It's kind of a thing.
KATELYN
Okay. Later, then. Hey, Lance?
LANCE
Yeah?
KATELYN
Thanks.
LANCE
For what?
KATELYN
Putting up with me. I know I've been a handful, but once things settle down...
