ACT THREE

[LOBBY - DAY]

Lance and Keith enter a lobby.

LANCE

I told you we should have asked the husband more questions that day.

KEITH

And I told you that I like to question my most likely suspects after I know more about them. That way they're tied to more specific answers.

LANCE

You suspected him, too?

KEITH

The husband? Duh.

LANCE

You would really clean up at my poker game.

KEITH

Right. You, James Patterson, and the rest of the Times best seller list? No, thank you, Lance. Little too rich for my blood.

LANCE

We could always make it strip poker.

KEITH

Sorry, but I prefer mystery to horror.

[Lance smiles, as they come upon Howard on his phone, roaming a space.]

HOWARD

No, yeah. I’m in the space right now, but like I told you guys, I'm gonna need at least twenty thousand square feet. I...

[Keith indicates he should rap up his call. Now.]

HOWARD

Listen, I’m gonna give you guys a call back. I'll let you know if the client is interested, okay? Thank you.

KEITH

Hi. Remember us?

[NEW YORK, STREET - DAY]

Keith, Lance and Howard Peterson walk and talk.

KEITH

When was the last time you saw Sara, Mr. Peterson?

HOWARD

The night before she was killed. I told you that.

LANCE

Which was your night to be home for dinner, right?

HOWARD

Right. Why are you asking?

LANCE

Well, Mr. Peterson...

KEITH

Eh. Eh. Eh.

(to Peterson)

We have information that suggests that Sara Manning was having a relationship.

HOWARD

Right. She had a boyfriend.

KEITH

Someone else.

HOWARD

Someone else? Who?

[Lance looks at Peterson and clears his throat.]

HOWARD

Me? You think I was having an affair with Sara?
