Yolanda: Who's there?
Hunter: It's Social services.
Yolanda: Oh.
Hunter: Come on in.
Social worker: Hi Mrs. Walmsley. I'm Linda Salmons. We had a referral from the gp, doctor wilson. She would've told you that we will be getting in contact with us about this.
Yolanda: She did mention something but i didn't think you'll be turning up on the doorstep.
Social worker: Maybe you haven't received the letter, we have written to let you know. it's about your daughter Elliana, is this her?
Yolanda: Yes.
Social worker: Hello there.
Hunter: I don't wish to be rude but um... What is it that you want?
Social worker: Whenever we are notified about an underage pregnancy we always visit the family at least once.
Hunter: Do you now?
Yolanda: You mean you have come all this way to check up on us?
Social worker: No, but there is a child care issue here.
Hunter: Yeah, and we are dealing with it as a family.
Social worker: We just need to establish a few facts about the family better and to Offer out our support as much as anything else.
Hunter: And what if we don't need your support?
Social worker: I can understand you might feel like this is an intrusion but it's really nothing to worry about.
Yolanda: Well, do you wanna see all of us or just me and Hunter?
Social worker: Could i talk to the whole family first and then perhaps i can have a chat with ellie on her own. Is it just the three of you living here?
Yolanda: I also have a son, Lev.
Social worker: How old is he?
Yolanda: He's actually Elliana's twin brother. So he's also 13.
Social worker: Where is he now?
Hunter: He's out with his mates. But he doesn't know anything about ellie.
Social worker: No.
Hunter: But it's nothing we are trying to keep from him, it's just we haven't found the right moment have we?
Yolanda: We haven't had a chance to get used to it ourselves yet.
Hunter: Yeah, so if he comes in, which he might do any minute. Do you mind keeping it quiet?
Social worker: Of course. Have you always lived here?
Hunter: Umm...yeah. Ever since we got married.
Social worker: When was that?
Yolanda: Back in 2014.
Social worker: Eight years, and you were living together before then.
Hunter: Yes.
Social worker: Are you Elliana's natural father?
Hunter: No, no. I'm her step dad.
Social worker: Ah, I see.
Yolanda: Her father died in 2007.
Social worker: When you were tiny.
Elliana: Yep, I was.
Social worker: I'm sorry that must have been awful for you, well both of you.
Yolanda: Well you get on with life, don't you.
Social worker: Do either of you work?
Yolanda: We both do.
Hunter: Yeah, I'm a nurse at California general.
Yolanda: And I work in a cafe just round the corner.
Social worker: I'm guessing you work shifts.
Hunter: And what's the big deal about that?
Social worker: Well i know myself how hard it is to run a home when both parents are working.
Hunter: Yeah, i'll tell you what else is hard bringing up two kids on a nurses wage.
Social worker: I have every sympathy mr. walmsley. Obviously you don't get to spend as much time at home as a family as you might wish.
Hunter: Well does anybody?
Yolanda: Breathe. Please.
Social worker: Elliana, can we please talk in private.
Elliana: Yeah, of course.
