Nicolette's POV

I am my daddy's pride and joy. He always has eyes on me everywhere I go in town. My father is the sheriff in Aurora, Texas. My momma passed away roughly 15 years ago in a traffic accident. That's when my father's been more worried about me and getting involved with the wrong crowd as he puts it. I live with my father currently but being 31 years old I want to find my own place to live. I have mentioned this to my father before and he's had a big ole fit about it. He says it's too dangerous for a woman as young as I am to live on my own. He doesn't think I can handle myself. He hasn't said this to my face but that's how I am feeling. I have had boyfriends in the past but everytime I feel like it could be more than that, they find out who my father is and they end it before it could ever begin to be something more. With that being said it's been years since I have dated let alone have a boyfriend. I want to find the man that I will spend the rest of my life with soon. I want kids and all of that but if my father has his way I won't get that, let alone leave the house. But I am determined to start my life and live it the way I want too. One can only hope. I walk downstairs from my room to the kitchen and I'm greeted by my father.

~Nicolette~ Good Morning Daddy..
~Sheriff~ Good Morning Pumpkin, got any plans for today?
~Nicolette~ Just going grocery shopping and laundry. Why what's up?
~Sheriff~ Just make sure you stay away from..
~Nicolette~ I know the guys who ride motorcycles.. Daddy they aren't all bad guys. Some are probably bad guys but not all of them.
~Sheriff~ While that maybe true, the ones in this town are bad.
~Nicolette~ How do you know this?
~Sheriff~ I don't have to explain this to you but I will. One of the MC clubs here were driving home the night your mother was killed in a van, and they were responsible for it. So please no bikers.
~Nicolette~ Fine daddy no bikers..

He leaves for work and I head to the store. I just want happiness even if it's with a guy with tattoos and drives a motorcycle.

Dalton's POV

Fresh out of prison for drug problems. I spent the last 5 years in jail for violating my probation on previous issues I had with them. The night I was caught high, I caught my ex girlfriend in bed with my dealer. I was pissed. When I left the house, I was pulled over. Come to find out my ex called them cops and told them I left intoxicated, which I was, and I was driving. I don't deny what I did. It made me a better person and I'm officially 5 years clean and sober. I also haven't dated since then. I got a job working in a mechanic shop, only thing I could do being an ex con. As I'm sitting here getting coffee, I see this beautiful woman walking in to the store. I have only been out a week now, but wow she looks great. I hope I get to see her around town again soon. I finish my coffee and head into work. I have a feeling today is going to be a great day after all.

Sheriff's POV

I know my daughter is old and smart enough to not get involved with the wrong crowd but she is my babygirl and I can't help but worry about her when she isn't at home. After losing my wife, she's all I have left to keep me going. I just worry that I will lose her as well and if I lose her, I don't know that I could ever go on without her. Thankfully our town hasn't had much crime over the last 10 years, we get the occasional robberies and criminals who miss court but that's it. I like to think that they are scared of who I am. As I'm finishing up a case some of my deputies bring in a known drug lord who had been selling to underage kids. This was an on going case for over the last 20 years. The old sheriff wasn't able to catch him either, but my boys did. I tell them to lock him up in the cell for now. I just hope this guy doesn't give us any issues. I know for sure he isn't working alone either. I doubt he will tell us who is working with as well. But I will find out myself.

I walk back to the cell and I lock eyes with this man.

Juan Sanchez, notorious drug lord across the south. He's known to of sold drugs across Texas and joining states. He's been caught, he has to have people running drugs to be sold. I'm positive that he's got ties to the Mexican cartel down in Mexico. I know he won't tell me who is working with him but he's locked away in my cell.

~Sheriff~ Want to tell me who else is working for you?
~Juan~ Yeah a cold day in hell...
~Sheriff~ Your sentence would be lowered...
~Juan~ I won't be in jail for a long time...
~Sheriff~ Oh you are for a while. You've been caught and I'm going to make sure that you go away for a long long time.
~Juan~ I'll be out soon
~Sheriff~ We'll see about that....
~Juan~ Yes we will
