CHAPTER NINETEEN

"Welcome to McKay's Café, how may I take your order?" An older girl with her hair messily thrown in a bun stood at the counter, Lee couldn't help but think that she looked familiar.

"Maddi! How are you?" May asked as a lightbulb went off in Lee's mind, she's the girl who got kicked out of school! The memory is so familiar, like a memory of your favourite movie that you keep in your mind and replay whenever you get bored.

Last year in may, Maddi ah Kit had gotten into a fight with Aja Laghari, Maddi was two grades older and because Maddi had thrown the first punch she had gotten two weeks suspension while Aja got no more than a slap on the wrist. Maddi was so upset at how the school treated the situation, she decided not to go back. "Oh I'm good, I've been putting down my seeds, Miss Bettie says I have real potential in coffee making business."

"That's good! How's Maali? I haven't gotten the chance to talk to her, she has been so busy with being prefect and her studies I never see her around."

"Could I have a caramel milkshake?"

"Maali has been Maali, obsessed with the new mystery of the heroes, dad and me never see her out of her room," Maddi continued with their conversation, not even hearing Lee's order. He crossed his arms as he waited for the two to finish speaking, he's on a date, he's supposed to be nice, if he gets mad he can do a painting about it when he gets home.

May eagerly spoke, "I've been obsessed with the new heroes too! Like Madkey, how come she didn't get to keep her miraculous but Souris did? It doesn't make any sense."

Maddi shuffled her feet before turning to Lee, quickly changing the subject, "What was it that you wanted to order?"

"Well, I want a caramel milkshake with cheesy bacon toastie," Lee's belly awoke at the name of food, making a small grumbling noise, "What is it that you want May?"

"My usual please," May told Maddi, as the aboriginal girl wrote the orders down.

"Got it, I'll give the order to Hades and Holland will serve it to you, take a seat."

Lee and May walked over to a table in the back, Lee snickered as he thought of the boy making their meals, "Hades' parents must have really hated him."

"Lee, that's not very nice," May said with a soft smile, warning him that he was slipping.

"I know, I know but it really is such a terrible name, that's like me naming my kid Satan, it's a life sentence of bullying."

May couldn't help but curve their lip, a slight grin on their lips, May gave Lee's cheek a small peck, "Just because something is true doesn't mean you have to say," they said after the small kiss.

"I-" His cheeks turned deep red, all grounds of his argument suddenly lost.

May giggled as they sat down, a small raindrop from outside the cafe caught Lee's attention, "Shit, I hope Pierre decided to bail on going to the skatepark."

"Pierre?" They asked, "Why would he be at the skatepark? Doesn't he prefer more quiet hobbies?"

"We were going to meet ther-" Lee mentally facepalmed, well no getting out of it now, "I'm so sorry May, I totally forgot about our date. I was on my way to meet Pierre when you messaged me."

May Yontarak should be used to this by now, the disappointment of dating Lee Stanford, in the past year alone, they have already tried dating twice, being on their third try now. "You remembered to meet Pierre?" a hint of jealousy on in their voice, "But not me?"

"Well yeah, Pierre is my best friend."

"Right..." May looked down, their throat dry causing no other words to be able to escape.

Holland walked up to the table with two drinks on a tray in his hands, "A caramel milkshake and a hot chocolate," he placed the drinks on the table. The shy boy gave the couple a quick smile, acknowledging that he knows them without all of the small talk that comes along with seeing a classmate out of school. "Hades is still working on your meals."

Lee chuckled, "Hades," he muttered as May giggled slightly. The jealous part of them slowly calmed down, he chose to be with me, sure i had to remind him but he still chose me, they tried reassuring themself.

"Thank you, Holland," May said thoughtfully, the boy muttered a small 'no problem' before leaving.

May took a sip of their hot chocolate, the warm liquid shielding them from the cold weather.

Lee took a few mouthfuls of his caramel milkshake, the cold cup making his hands start to freeze as he touched the cup "Maybe a cold drink wasn't the best idea," he said to himself but kept drinking the dessert anyway.

"Why don't we mix our drinks?" May offered.

Lee tilted his head to the side as he considered the offer, a frozen hot chocolate would be really good right about now, "Let's do it!" He hands over his milkshakes, May grabbed the two drinks and walked over to Maddi, Lee figured they were asking for spare cups.

Lee looked out the window, it was pouring down, he started feeling really guilty for ditching Pierre. He grabbed his phone and opened messenger.

did you get home before it rained?

Lee smiled at his set name, which Pierre did months ago after Lee changed Pierre's name to dork.

He waited. No reply.

He stared at his phone, it was sent but hasn't been opened or seen, Pierre was probably on the bus and listening to music, he told himself, no need to worry.

Lee put his phone away as he heard May approach the table, in their hands was two delicious frozen hot chocolate in a clear plastic cup, "Two frozen hot chocolates," May said as they playfully placed the cups on the table. "And Holland has our meals too!"

Holland placed two small plates on the table, one with a cheesy bacon toastie on it and the other with a muffin.

May grinned, "Let's start our date!"

I'm so excited for the next chapter! It is going to be focusing on Aiden and a very special guest!

I'm not sure if y'all can tell up I have never been on a date ✋ so if some parts seemed unrealistic that's because my knowledge of dating is from tv and books.
