It was the eve of Tiana's 17th birthday, to say she was excited was an understatement, she couldn't wait to see what her parents have planned and of course the gifts they will be presenting her with. Tiana smiled as she stared at the dress that was on the mannequin since it was her 17th birthday she demanded her parents buy her a brand new dress that would solidify this special occasion and they obliged of course. She ran her hand over the stones that were sewn into the dress, it was a gorgeous silver dress that looked like it could be made for someone of royalty which was exactly what Tiana wanted.
She wrapped her dressing gown around her before walking over to her bed and laying back on it making her bounce when her back hit the mattress, she clasped her hands together and looked up to the ceiling with a smile. She often imagined her life in the future but since she was almost 17 she was picturing the future more often, she imagined the man she would marry would be rich and would spoil her often. She doesn't plan on having more than one child just so she would have an heir to pass on the business to, no more considering she isn't a fan of children.
Tiana looks to her right towards the giant window that was in her bedroom, the curtains were wide open so she could feel the sun shining on her face. She couldn't help the wide grin that grew on her face as she imagined getting married in the sunshine outside with her parents sitting in the front row. "Can I come in?" Tiana turned her head to the voice of her mother that was by the door, she nodded and sat up. "Are you excited about your birthday tomorrow?" Vera asks with a grin on her face as she takes a seat on the velvet couch that was in between Tiana's two windows. "I am, very excited to be able to wear the gorgeous dress and to see what you both have planned." Tiana shoved a piece of hair behind her ear as she spoke. "I'm excited that you're excited. I can't believe you're already 17, I remember your birth like it was yesterday." Tiana chuckled as she watched the wistful look on Vera's face, her mother often liked to remember what happened in the past while Tiana was much more focused on the future and her present. "Well, it was 17 years ago. I'm getting older." Tiana stood up and walked toward her mother before sitting next to her. "Now that you're getting older has anyone caught your eye?" Vera changed the subject which Tiana was grateful for.
"Not yet, but I'm sure that I will I mean I have to right? I need an heir to take over the business." Tiana wanted to get married but she wished she didn't have to go through the child part but she knew it was a part of it. Tiana watched as Vera frowned for a split second but she schooled her features into a smile like she wasn't just frowning. "Well, take it one step at a time. Remember no rush okay? I want you to be my little girl for as long as possible." Vera raised her hand and grabbed Tiana's chin delicately as she kissed Tiana on the nose making her scrunch her nose and roll her eyes when Vera let go. "I know, it's what I want. You know that I wouldn't do anything I don't want to." Tiana said sassily making Vera chuckle at her daughter's attitude. "I know honey, you just get so caught up in the business that I'm worried you'll rush things."
Tiana shook her head quickly her curls falling into her face so Vera pushed a few of them behind her ear. "I want to get caught up in the business, I know that you don't like it but I love it. I have to keep the Malinsowki name going, I have to. You don't have to worry about me because it will be a long time for that to happen but for now, I'm going to learn what Dad has to teach me." Knowing that she wouldn't win Vera sighed and hummed instead of replying to Tiana. "Speaking of, where is Dad?" Tiana looked at Vera, letting her hands rest in her lap.
"He's in his office, he said something about looking at emergency files?" Vera shrugged before getting up. "Okay, I'm gonna say Hi." Tiana scrunched up her nose as she got up following Vera out of her room. Her slippers softly padded against the floor as she walked towards Anton's office. "Can I come in?" Tiana asked as she knocked on the door, her brows furrowed as she didn't get a response. "I'm coming in." Tiana alerted before she twisted the handle of the door and pushed it so it opens. "Can I help you with anything?" Tiana asked as she walked closer towards the desk where she saw her Dad was slumped oddly over some pages. "Dad?" Tiana asked again when she was met with silence.
A pit grew in her stomach, she touched his shoulder and shook it but got no response. "Daddy?!" Tiana pleaded as she shook him harder but once again she was met with silence. "Daddy! Please wake up!" Tiana cried out shaking him harsher, she tasted her salty tears but she didn't wipe them away. "Help! Someone help!" Tiana cried out looking towards the door as she tried to get Anton to respond but she was met with silence. She heard a gasp but her eyes didn't move from her father's motionless body. "Get her out of here." Tiana heard Vera's voice say wetly. "Come on Miss." A maid grabbed Tiana's shoulder trying to get her to move but she shook it off quickly. "No! I'm staying here, you need to get help." Tiana pleaded as she grabbed onto Anton's limp hand. They must have listened because she was bothered again as she heard the footsteps departing leaving Tiana alone with a motionless Anton.
