She had thought a lot about if she wants to go to Leif and ask him for more money, but she knew if she does that then her leadership will be called into check. She can't hand over the business Leif, this is the last piece of her Father she has left, and she'll be dammed if she loses it. Tiana was drinking whiskey perched on her couch that was at the end of her bed when a knock sounded on her door, her eyebrow raises as she glances at the clock. Everyone should've gone home by now Tiana thinks as she places her glass on the floor and walks towards the door to unlatch it.
"Oh Hello, I thought you went home by now." Tiana smiles softly as she sees who's on the other side of the door. "I was, I was actually on my way out now but I have an idea that I wanna share. Can I come in?" Betty nods her head toward the inside of Tiana's room, she quickly nods her head and steps aside to let Betty in, now that she's in the light of Tiana's room instead of the dimmed hallway, Tiana can see Betty's full outfit. Tiana notices that the girl has a nice shawl around her that makes Tiana squint her eyes, she knows that she doesn't pay the girl enough to buy one of those.
Tiana lets out a sigh as she lets her brain make up a reasonable excuse as she walks over back to her couch and sits down keeping her eye on Betty who sits on the ottoman across from her. "I was going to wait until the morning to tell you but I think that as long as you agree it's a good idea." Betty starts out watching as Tiana takes a slow sip of her whiskey. "What is it?" Tiana keeps her voice light trying to ignore the pull of sleep that is nagging at her.
Betty looked nervous as she began to speak, almost as if she was afraid that Tiana was going to fire her. "I was wondering if you would allow me to work on your finances." Tiana opened her mouth immediately to protest as she sat up. "Before you say anything, I don't mean that you aren't capable because you are, but I've helped you before just to sort things out when you're tired but if it's one of my full-time jobs then you'll be able to get some rest. I also want to help you try to get control of your money back because what Leif is doing, isn't right." That made Tiana snap her mouth closed, it sounded like a good idea but she was hesitant because Leif handled her Father's finances, and look how that turned out.
"Okay, but before you do anything I would like to check it over, just the first couple of times." Hurt flashed across Betty's eyes and Tiana almost took it back right then but she rolled her shoulders and focused on the way the ice clinked around in her drink. "Alright, I can't blame you for that but my father taught me some stuff before he passed so I wanted to help you because I know it hurts to give that man at the warehouse money from your pocket. For the time being, I've decided that you don't need to pay me as much. Just a couple of Kruge coins will do." Betty gently smiled at Tiana who looked at her in shock. "Are you sure? How would you pay for a place to stay and food? You deserve to be paid enough especially since you're taking on this extra work." Tiana leans forward on the couch and looks at Betty carefully.
"I have that all taken care of, I'm in a nice boarding house with other girls and they're providing food. This is just until you get out from under Leif's thumb, then I'll start taking 20 kruge again." Betty winked at Tiana who made her smile, that made her feel better at least and she can try to slip Betty a few extra kruges when she isn't looking. "I'm glad, please tell me if you need a place to stay because we have plenty of rooms here." Tiana was sure that her Mother wouldn't be happy that she invited someone to live with them if she needed to but Tiana didn't care, she liked Betty.
Betty gave Tiana a nod before she started to stand up, so Tiana did the same carefully placing her glass on the floor next to the leg of the couch. "I wanted to say before you leave. You look nice." Tiana complimented Betty who smiled and stepped closer to Tiana, Tiana exhaled and so did Betty. Tiana became aware that she could feel Betty's breath ghosting across her face, her eyes dipping to Betty's lips suddenly she had an overwhelming feeling to press their lips together which made her quickly widen her eyes and step back. "Well, be careful, have my driver take you home." Tiana rubbed her hand across her arm nervously, Betty looked confused but she nodded and waved her hand goodbye as she walked out of Tiana's room.
As Tiana was walking towards the door so she could lock it, she berated herself. It wasn't the first time she felt attracted to someone who was the same gender as her, but it was wrong. It wasn't right, she was supposed to make heirs. She could do that if she kissed Betty, not to mention what if someone found out. That would be it for Tiana, no, she told herself. It was wrong, she just had to push down those silly and stupid little desires and go on more dates that her Mother sets up so she can find Mr. Right and produce an heir so the Malinowski line lives on, just like Tiana is supposed to.
