10th Doctor x female!reader Request [[Doctor Who]]

What could've been

I thought, I knew the Doctor. I really thought I did. But what just happend made me think through a lot of choices, I've recently made, especially the decision to travel with the Doctor.
I watched how he rushed around the Tardis, trying to land us safely. He didn't look at me for once, but I stared at him the whole time.
After the Tardis had stopped shaking, he finally turned around and looked at me.

"I'm sorry", he mumbled.
"I know", I mumbled.
He sighed:"I tried everything to save her, but I couldn't"
"I know", I said again.
I finally looked away, as I felt how the harsh truth finally settled down inside my brain.

We had lost Rose. She was gone. Forever. The Doctor said it was impossible to bring her back. He tried. He did everything possible but nothing worked.

"Y/N...", he mumbled and I felt him gently pull me into his arms. I leanedy head against his shoulders and started to cry. I wanted to scream, to shout, to yell, at him, at the world and myself. Rose was the closest friend I've ever had and I could've never imagined to lose her.
Suddenly, I heard a sniffle and looked up. The Doctor was so crying too. Of course, he had also lost a friend today.
I gently put my hand on his cheek and brushed away a few tears.
"It's okay", I mumbled, "She's alive. That's all that matters"

As I spoke those words, I realized how true they were. We may never see Rose again, but she was alive and breathing. She was also with her Mother and Father. She had a live, a home, a family.
Just as the Doctor and me. We had the Tardis, the universe and us.

"It's alright", I said again and pulled the Doctor back into my arms. And from that moment, I knew...

It was gonna be alright, we were going to be alright.

"Are you ready?", The Doctor asked. I smiled and grabbed his hand. "More then ready", I mumbled and kissed his cheek.
A grin appeared on his beautiful features and he opened the door of the Tardis. A blue sky and fresh green grass welcomed us.
"I missed this", I said and eyed the flying cars and huge skyscrapers.
"New New York", The Doctor smiled and stepped towards me.
"Come on", I shouted and grabbed his hand. I started running towards the spot, where we had the Picknick, the last time we were here... Together with Rose.

"Careful!!", The Doctor yelled, but it was to late. It was going downhill and before anyone could stop us, we toppled down in the grass, rolling down all the way to the bottom of the hill.

We came to a stop and I felt how the Doctor grabbed my arms, so that I couldn't roll further. I couldn't help the grin, that appeared on my face, as he pulled me on top of him. I rested my face on his chest and gifted him a sweet smile.
"I missed this", the Doctor mumbled and carefully lifted his hand. He gently pushed back a strand of hair that had escaped into my face.
"What did you miss?", I asked after he had put his hand on my cheek.
The Doctor only smiled and pulled me closer, "Us", he whispered into my ear.
A shiver ran down my spine and I could feel his warm breath on my neck.
"Me too", I mumbled shyly. The Doctor smiled at me and pulled me in for a sweet and gentle kiss.
His lips were warm and soft. I could lose myself in his lips, but before that could happen, he pulled away again.

"Sometimes I wonder what would've happened if Rose was still with us", I mumbled as we sat up.
The Doctor furrowed his brows:"What do you mean?"
"You know", I mumbled, "If we would've come closer like this"
"I would have made sure", The Doctor smiled.
I had no answer for this, so all I did was to grab his hand and lean my head against his shoulder.
"I love you", I mumbled.
I felt how the Doctor put an arm around my waist:"I love you too"
