She walked up the flight of cold, grey stone stairs in her bare feet. Unlike Cinderella, who lost her heel as she ran down the stairs, Aura had completely taken off both heels before she arrived into the West Wing of the Castle for no apparent reason. When she reached the top, she pushed open the wooden door covered in scratches and tiny holes from its centuries of presence on Earth.
Once she was inside, she scanned the room for the spindle that she had been hypnotized to find. Her eyes landed on a burlap covering the golden spindle tucked away neatly in the corner of the room. She removed the burlap and marveled at the fine craftsmanship of the gold spindle. She then held out her finger and pricked it on the tip of the spindle. One tiny droplet of blood fell from her finger. All at once, she felt dizzy and fell onto the cold attic floor. Moments later, all the others inside the castle fell asleep too. Within minutes, vines and thorns had sprung from the soil and had swallowed the castle. From the outside, it looked like the forest had taken over the castle.
For 100 years, Aura and the others slept while outside life went on as per usual.
