Mads POV

We get out of the car when we made it to the Big Spot, this place was supposed to be a gold mine according to Daryl, and I hope he was right. We were taking in more and more people each week, which meant that we were using more and more supplies, if we didn't strike gold soon, eventually we're going to run out. "Army came in and put these fences up. Made it a place for the people to go. Last week when we spotted this place, there was a bunch of walkers behind this chain-link keeping people out like a bunch of guard dogs." Daryl told us and Bob looked at him confused, "So they all just left?" "Give a listen." Sasha tells him as we move a little closer to hear the boombox we had set up earlier this week. Michonne looked to us, "You drew 'em out." I nod, "Put a boom box out there three days ago." "Hooked it up to two car batteries." Glenn added. "All right, let's make a sweep. Make sure it's safe. Grab what you can. We'll come back tomorrow with more people. Come on." Daryl tells everyone stepping through the hole we made in the fence. As I go to step through Daryl pulls the fence further open for me and I give him a nod as a thank you. We walk through the military tents to get to the front of Big Spot, and it just reeked with all the rotting corpse everywhere. As we reach the Big Spot Daryl pounds on the windows to attract any walkers to the front, "Just give it a second." Zach leans on the wall next to Daryl and I, Okay, I think I got it." Michonne looks to him confused, "Got what?" He shrugged, "I've been trying to guess what Daryl did before the turn." I nod laughing, "He's been trying to guess for, like, six weeks." Zach nods sitting next to me, "Yeah, I'm pacing myself. One shot a day." Daryl gives him a wave, "All right, shoot." Daryl had opened up to me about his life before this, and it wasn't pretty. Daryl did whatever Merle decided they were doing that day, which usually put Daryl into trouble. Zach sighs, "Well, the way you are at the prison, you being on the council, you're able to track, you're helping people, but you're still being kind of... surly. Big swing here. Homicide cop." Michonne and I laugh and Daryl gives us a look, "What's so funny?" Michonne and I shake our heads, "Nothing." "It makes perfect sense." Michonne adds. Daryl nods, "Actually, the man's right. Undercover." Zach looks surprised, "Come on, really?" Daryl nods, "Yep. I don't like to talk about it 'cause it was a lot of heavy shit, you know?" Zach wasn't believing it, "Dude, come on, really?" Daryl gives him a look and clears his throat. Zach chuckles a little, "Okay. I'll just keep guessing, I guess." Daryl nods, "Yeah, you keep doing that." Zach looks over to me, "Mads what did you do before this?" I sighed, "Majority of the time I was a wife and a mom, but when I did get to work, I was a lawyer. A damn good one too." Zach nodded, "See that makes sense. You're very determined." We're interrupted by a loud smacking coming on the window behind us, walkers. "We're gonna do this, Detective?" Michonne joked with Daryl as he stood up. He helped me up and nodded, "Let's do it." Daryl busted the door open allowing the walkers to come out, and I took my machete out and killed one. I bent down to drag the body out as the others did when Tyreese stopped me, "Let me get that for you, Mama." I said a small thank you as he dragged it into the pile with the rest. "All right, we go in, stay in formation for the sweep. After that, you all know what you're supposed to look for. Any questions?" Sasha asked the group. Tyreese laughed, "Was there ever a time that you weren't the boss of me?" Sasha smiled, "You had a few years before I was born." The dynamic they had made me miss my brother and sister. I hope they are okay and alive.

We did our sweep and the building was clear, I made my way to the baby aisle. I kneeled down grabbing a few cans of formula for just in case, I planned on breast feeding as I did with Joey, but especially in today's world who knows what's going to happen and it's better to be prepared. I started packing the rest of the of the baby section, including some stuff for Judith. "Are you scared?" Glenn asked coming behind me. I jumped at the sudden sound of his voice then laughed, "You scared me." "I'm sorry, but I meant about the baby." He apologized and I looked up to him then nodded, "Honestly, I'm terrified. I can't help thinking that I'm going to die. That I'll die during child birth like Lori, or that my baby will die and tear me apart from the inside out." Glenn kneels down shaking his head, "Hey you can't think like that." I sigh softly, "It's all I can think about." Glenn shakes his head, "I won't let it happen, neither will Rick." I roll my eyes slightly, "You can't stop it." He sighs, "You'll be okay. Here." He handed me a camera and I smiled at him before placing it in my bag. He walked away and I finished packing my bag before throwing it over my shoulders. A loud smash and scream caused me to jump up and run towards it. Daryl and I arrive to the scene at the same time to see Bob trapped under a shelf. I kneel down, "You all right? You cut or something?" He shakes his head, "No, but my foot is caught." Daryl crouches behind me and nods, "All right. He's just caught. Come on, help me up." Tyreese and Zach come over to help Daryl lift the shelf. "What happened?" Glenn yelled. "Everyone's all right. We're over in wine and beer." I yell back. Bob looks up to Daryl, "I was moving fast, man. I drove right into the drinks." Tyreese nodded, "Man, you lucked out. If this thing had come down on you the wrong way-" He was cut off by a walker falling through the ceiling right above me, causing me to duck as his guts and blood splattered out all over me. I gasped and Glenn grabbed my arm, "Yeah, uh, we should probably go now." I pulled away from him, "Bob's still stuck." "Get him out of there." Daryl yells moving towards Bob. Two more walkers fall through the ceiling, startling us even more. A few more fall through causing us to panic over Bob as he starts screaming. Daryl looked at me, "Madison, gun up and get out. Now!" I nod pulling out my gun and start moving for the exit when I see something out of the corner of my eye. A walker grabs Zach and I shoot it, then I look in front of me to see four walkers moving towards me. I shoot each of them in the head and look over to see two walkers on top Glenn, and I fire at them before running over and helping him up. He tries to pull me out but I look over to see Daryl surrounded by walkers as he stood on boxes, I look to Glenn, "Go, I can't leave him." Glenn nods and I shoot five more walkers until my gun clicks. "Fuck!" I yelled putting my gun away and pulling out my machete. I start to slice through walkers until I reach Daryl. I start killing walkers as do Daryl and I feel a shake. I look up to see a helicopter slowly slipping it's way through. "Daryl, MOVE!" I scream. Daryl jumps down and Zach yells to us, "Get Bob!" Daryl hands me his gun and I fire at the walker going after Bob. Zach holds the shelf up as Daryl and I pull out Bob. We turn to leave when I hear a scream, I look back to see a walker bite into Zach's leg. "No! Zach!" I cried out. I hear him scream out again as the walker bites into his neck. I hold up my gun as he looks at me, "I'm sorry." I pull the trigger ending his suffering and Daryl pulled me back, "We've gotta go!" We run out of the Big Spot as the helicopter crushes through the ceiling.

We arrived back at the prison and I immediately jumped out of the car and headed to the shower. I washed all the blood and guts from my hair and skin before returning to my cell. I sat on Rick and I's bed and put my head in my hands. I heard a knock on the door and I looked up to see Hershel, "Hey, Daryl told me what happened. I just wanted to check on you and the baby." I smile and nodded, "Thank you." He sat down next to me and placed a hand on my bump. The baby immediately jumped at the sudden coldness causing Hershel to laugh, "Doesn't like the cold, I see." I nodded, "Joey's hands are always cold and causes the little sucker to jump around whenever she touches it." Hershel grabs my shoulder, "You're going to be just fine. The baby too." I sigh, "What if I end up just like Lori? I mean think of Rick, Hershel. He can't go through that again." Hershel sighs, "I watched my wife turn, then I thought she was just sick, but after what your husband did I realized I watched her die. Then when he shot her, I watched her die again. It was hard to get over it, as you saw, but I did." I feel tears weld in my eyes, "You have to promise me Hershel, if I die, please don't let Rick go cold. Please look after Joey and Carl and this baby. Promise me." Hershel rubbed my back, "You'll be fine-" I cut him off, "Hershel please." He nods, "Alright." Another knock interrupts us and we look up to see Maggie. I smile at her, Maggie and I had gotten close in recent months. We were able to put Glenn and I behind us and we actually have a lot in common. Hershel stands up and leaves the cell and Maggie sits down, "I'm not pregnant." I sigh in relief, "Oh thank God. Have you told Glenn?" She nodded, "He was relieved. I'm kind of upset honestly." I look at her confused, "Upset?" She nodded, "I don't want to be afraid of living. We can actually have a life here." I shake my head, "Maggie, I'm terrified. There's still so much to be scared of. There's no hospitals and if you have to have a C-section you're dead." Maggie rolled her eyes, "So be it." "Maggie-" I start but she left my cell. Rick finally came into our cell and he looked frantic, "I just heard what happened. Are you okay? Are you hurt? Is the baby okay?" I laughed as he checked over my skin and then my stomach, "I'm okay. Some of us weren't as lucky, but I handled myself." Rick nodded, "Daryl told me about Zach, and what you had to do." I sighed, "He was a good kid. He still saw light in this world. Those kind of people are rare now a days." Rick nodded, "I'm sorry that happened. And that you had to do that." I shrugged, "That's the life we live in now Rick. I had to kill him so he would stop suffering, and so he wouldn't turn. But that was all before the helicopter crashed through." Rick kisses me softly, "Get some sleep. I love you." I nod, "I love you too."
