Mads POV

Rick looks over to Daryl and Daryl nods. He then turns back to Joey and Carl and places a hand on the back of each of their necks, "We can do this, alright?" They both nod. He steps over to me, "You keep them safe, okay? I love you." I nod and he kisses me softly on the head before walking over to the gate and opening it. He heads down the gravel path towards the Governor. Daryl walks over to us, "We can't take them all on. We'll go through the admin building, through the woods like we planned." I nod my head keeping my eyes on Rick, "We ain't got the numbers no more." "When's the last time someone checked the stash on the bus?" Daryl asked. "Day before we hit the Big Spot. We were running low on rations then. We're lower now." Sasha answered. Daryl sighed, "Yeah, we'll manage. Things go south, everyone heads for that bus. Let everybody know." I finally look away from Rick and to Daryl, "What if everybody doesn't know when things go bad? How long do we wait?" Daryl sighs, "As long as we can."

(A/N: Act as if she'd be able to hear their conversation.)

Rick finally reached the Governor, "Let 'em go right now. I'll stay down here. Talk as long as you  want. But you let 'em go. You got a tank. You don't need hostages." The Governor nods, "I do. This is just to show you I'm serious. Not to blast a hole in our new home. You and your people, you have till sundown to get out of here or they die." Rick shakes his head, "Doesn't have to go down this way." Governor shrugs, "I got more people, more firepower. We need this prison. There it is." "It's not about the past. It's about right now. There are children here. Some of them are sick. They won't survive. One is pregnant, she's going to give birth any day now, her and the baby won't survive out there." Rick begged. The Governor chuckles slightly, "If you're talking about my Madison, don't you worry. She's staying here with me where we will raise our child. Plus, I have a tank. And I'm letting you walk away from here. What else is there to talk about?" My body froze, there was no way in hell that I was going to stay here with him and raise MY baby. I would shoot myself before that happened. Daryl starts to hand out guns to people and he looks at me, "You okay to shoot Mads?" I nod, "Give me my handgun too." He nods giving me a rifle and my gun and the ammo for both. The Governor shrugs, "I could shoot you all. You'd all shoot back. I know that. But we'll win and you'll be dead. All of you. Doesn't have to be like that. Like I said, it's your choice." A walker growls louder the closer it gets to them the Governor looks over and pulls his gun out and shoots it in the head. He then looks back to Rick, "Noise will only draw more of them over. The longer you wait, the harder it will be for you to get out of here."

"We got to do something." Carl said from beside Daryl and I. Daryl shook his head, "Your dad's got it. They're talking." Carl sighed, "We could kill the Governor right now." I looked over to him, "From yards?" He looks up to me, "I'm a good shot. I could end this right now." Daryl scoffs, "Yeah, or you could start something else. You got to trust him." I look down to Carl, "He's right. Trust your dad, Bud. He'll get us out of this." I wasn't sure if I was reassuring him or if I was reassuring myself. The Governor not only wants this prison, but he wants me with it. The Governor looks up to the sky, "You got maybe about an hour of sunlight left. I suggest you start packing. The longer you wait, the harder it's gonna be for you to get out of here." Rick tries to make it work, "We can all-- we can all live together. There's enough room for all of us." The Governor shakes his head, "More than enough. But I don't think my family would sleep well knowing that you were under the same roof." Rick continues to try and reason with him, "We'd live in different cell blocks. We'd never have to see each  other till we're all ready." Hershel looks back to him, "It could work. You know it could." The Governor shakes his head, "It could've. But it can't. Not after Woodbury. Not after Andrea." Anger fills within me, even though Andrea and I never got along, she's dead because of him. Rick sighed, "Look, I'm not saying it's gonna be easy. Fact is, it's gonna be a  hell of a lot harder than standing here shooting at each other. But I  don't think we have a choice." The Governor shrugs, "We don't. You do." Rick shakes his head, "We're not leaving and you can't have her. You try and force us, we'll fight back. You try to keep her, I'll shoot you. Like  you said, the guns will just bring more of them out. They'll take down  the fences. Without the fences, this place is worthless. Now, we can all live in the prison or none of us can." The Governor gets angry and jumps off the tank, and grabs Michonne's sword, "We'll fix the damn fences." He holds the sword up to Hershel's neck. "No--!" Maggie cries going up to the fence with Beth. Rick looks over to a girl who looks scared of what the Governor is doing, "You. You in the ponytails. Is this what you want? Is this what any of you want?" She looks at Rick before the guy in the tank yells, "What we want is what you got. Period. Time for you to leave, asshole." Rick points to the Governor, "Look, I fought him before. And after, we took in his old friends.  They've become leaders in what we have here. Now you put down your  weapons, walk through those gates... you're one of us. We let go of all  of it, and nobody dies. Everyone who's alive right now. Everyone who's made it this far. We've all done the worst kinds of things just to stay alive. But we can still come back. We're not too far gone. We get to come back. I know... we all can change."

The Governor slowly starts pulling the sword away from Hershel's neck and I begin to think this is all over, they're joining us. Until I hear, "Liar." The Governor pulls the sword back and slams it into Hershel's neck. Cold runs through my body as I watch in pure horror. An involuntary sob leaves my body as I watch Hershel fall to the ground, "Hershel!" "No!" Rick yells before shooting the Governor and all hell breaks loose. Everyone opens fire to the Governor's people as they begin to shoot at us. Tears fall from my eyes as I fire my gun. I look to see Rick fall to the ground behind the bus after being shot in the leg. They started coming in through fences with the tank through the field and all I can think about is how Rick is going to die, I have to protect our children. I was standing by the fence shooting when Daryl came up behind me, "Get to the bus now!" I look around unable to see Joey, Carl or Judith, "Are my children there? Are they safe?" Daryl shrugs, "I don't know. You just have to get there." I shake my head, "Not without my kids." Daryl grabs my arm, "Damn it Madison! They're coming for you, get on the bus." I shake my head, "I will die before I leave them behind!" Through all the shooting I hear his voice, "Get the pregnant girl! Get her alive!" I look over to finally see Joey run past. I grab her and she screams, "It's momma! Joey it's mom. You need to get to the bus now." She shakes her head, "Not without you." I look at her sternly, "I am going to find Judith and Carl. You get on the bus, do you understand? I will find you. No matter where. I love you." She nods and hugs me before running off towards the bus. "There she is! Get her!" I look back to see a woman and man start running towards me. Unable to run anywhere towards the prison, I sprint towards the woods hearing them follow me. "Hurry the bitch can't go too far she's pregnant, you go this way and I'll look over here." I hear soft footsteps start to come towards me from the left and I slowly pull out one of the hunting knifes Daryl gave me a while back. I see her and I quickly grab her and try to stab her, but she punches me in the face and I feel the blood start to come from my nose. I roughly kick her as hard as I could knocking her over before I got on top of her and tried to over power my knife into her chest. She tried holding me off with one hand and the other hand she was trying to push my face. I pushed the rest of the strength I had to plunged the knife into her chest as her finger found its way to my eyeball, and she dug her finger nail into it. I screamed out in pain as I couldn't see anything from my left eye. I pulled her finger out of my eye as I took my knife out of her chest and stabbed her in the head multiple times. I feel blood pouring down my face from my eye and nose. I hear footsteps and I pull out my gun to see the guy from before. He looked at me before he looked at the girl's body behind me. "Drop your weapon." I spoke softly. He nodded softly before trying to raise his gun at me, I quickly fired shooting him right in the head. I tried to head back to the prison, but my gunshot brought the attention of a herd of walkers, and they were coming right for me. So I started to run from the prison, but mark my words. I will find my kids, and I will find Rick. They're alive. They have to be.
