Ellie looked at the door, confused. Adam and I stood up, staring at the mother as she opened the door. To our surprise, it was her "not-a-date" as Adam called him. "Hi" He breathed out, Adam and I watching the scene play out. "Hi" Ellie smiled. "Me again" The man said like it wasn't obvious, i snickered softly. "Yes it is" Ellie said, her hand not moving from the door. "You left your scarf in my car" He said, holding up Ellie's scarf. "I did. Gosh, thanks" Ellie said, taking the scarf. Derek; if i remembered correctly, peaked over her shoulder and spotted Adam and I. "Oh, hey there kiddos" Derek said, as Adam smirked. I knew this wouldn't end well. "Oh, this is my son Adam and his friend Sam, Adam, Sam this is Derek" Ellie introduced us as we walked over to them. I smiled awkwardly at the man, and Adams smirk grew. "Oh, hey Adam, Sam" Derek said. "Hello Derek, you have a wonderful mouth mullet, you must be very proud" Adam said, as i snorted. "Oh my gosh, Adam!" Ellie said, as the two adults laughed.

"I mean he's not wrong" I said, pointing to the man as Ellie side glared me. "Never actually heard it called that before" He chucked, rubbing his "mouth mullet". "Well, thanks again" Ellie thanked the man. "Sure. See you soon" Derek said. "Unlikely, but i'll put in a good word for you Derek" Adam glared at the man, as I pulled his arm back, telling him to stop. "Okay, okay. I'll see you at work" Ellie said, pushing his hand that was pointing at Derek down. Derek mumbled a quick "yeah" as Ellie said bye and closed the door, pulling Adams arm with her. Adam glared through the closing door, waving a sarcastic bye, as I pointed at him again before the door closed. Ellie sighed, and looked at us. "He seems nice" I smiled, Adam smiling with me. Ellie glared at us."What?" I asked, innocently smiling. "You both can be a real jerk sometimes, you know that?" Ellie breathed out, as I sarcastically put my hand over my heart, acting offended. She walked past us, as Adam grabbed my hand from off my heart, and smiled softly at me. I could tell his mothers words had hurt him, so i grabbed his hand and squeezed it, as we stood there, staring at each other.

Adam looked down as the back door was heard being slid open, and Ellie's faint gasp was heard coming from outside, meaning she was either crying or about to cry. I looked over Adams shoulder to see Ellie standing on the back porch with a blanket wrapped around her. My heart aches for the women, it truly dose. I realized Adam and I's hands were still intertwined and i pulled him up the stairs to his room, were we both laid on his bed, and soon enough both fell asleep, our hands never leaving each other's.

The next morning came pretty fast it feels. The sun shinned into Adams room, waking me from my lovely slumber. Adam soon woke up when i pulled my hand from his, getting up to go get the extra clothes i keep in his closet. "Morning sunshine" He smirked to me, i rolled my eyes. "Forgot your a morning person" i groaned as he got up, going over to his drawers. I got my normal black leggings, and Adams blue hoodie. I ran to the upstairs bathroom and quickly changed, throwing my dirty clothes down the laundry shoot. By time i was out of the bathroom, Adam was waiting outside the bathroom door, holding both our backpacks. "Good?" He asked, i nodded and we headed downstairs. Once we got downstairs, his mom was going through a TON of papers. "Hey there, good morning" Ellie said, as we approached her. "Shouldn't you be at work?" I asked her, confused on why she's still home. She smiled at me, before answering. "Yea, i need to pay the insurance on the house today" She said, reading a envelope. "Had it in the calendar, but i can't find the statement" Ellie said, as i stood next to her. Adam went over to the kitchen, probably to get some food.

"With that filing system?" Adam asked, as he opened the fridge. Ellie looked up at him for a split second as he pulled out the orange juice. "Shocking, it should all be online" Adam stated. "The minute i find myself with a few extra hours, i will set up those accounts" She said, pulling more papers out as Adam poured himself a glass of OJ. "Until then, this is how your dad did it" Ellie said, putting the papers she just took our back. Adam looked at me, seeing if i wanted a glass of OJ too, i shook my head and smiled at him. "Hey grab a pile?" She looked between us, as Adam put the OJ away. "Sorry. We gotta get to my room to think about what we've done" Adam said, his voice low. Ellie sighed, before standing up. "Okay, i gotta go" She said, placing a hand full of papers back on the table. "Call me if you need me" Ellie said, as Adam poured a bowl of Cheerios. "I won't" Adam replied, not looking up from his cereal. Ellie picked up her purse, and looked at me. Ellie hesitated for a minute, before placing a hand on my cheek, then down to my shoulder. "Keep him in line for me, will ya?" She asked me, i smiled and held my hand up to my forehead, saluting her. "Always do" I smiled, lowering my hand. Ellie smiled at me, before walking away and out the house.
