Parker's POV:

I was gently roused from sleep. I opened my eyes and blinked at the burn. My eyes always burned after I had been crying. I looked at Ryan as he stood in front of the open door.

"Hey, Baby, we're here." He whispered.

He gently ran his hand through the top of my hair. I nodded. He leaned in and unbuckled me before moving to allow me to climb out of the car. I grabbed my hat and pulled it back down over my eyes. I grabbed the dolphin before turning to Ryan.

"Where's my bag?"

He bent down and picked a bag up from the ground. "Here."

I quickly unzipped it and shoved the dolphin inside. "Thanks."

He nodded.

I stepped around him and headed for the entrance to the pack house. I ignored all of Derek's pack that was standing around and staring at me. I made it to the stairs when the entrance door opened. I looked up when Lyla came out. Our eyes connected and she came running down the stairs to me. I braced for impact as she launched herself at me, burying her face in my neck and sobbing.

"I know. I'm so sorry." I whispered, wrapping my arms around her.

"She's gone. Maddilyn's gone." She cried.

I lowered my head more to hide my face from everyone watching.

"I know, Babe. I know. I'm gonna get him." I pulled away from her. "I promise you. I will make him pay."

She nodded while I wiped her tears.

"Go inside. I need to find Derek. I need to see the attack site."

"Paisley. Please. I don't want you to get hurt or killed too. I have lost too many people in my life." She cried.

I leaned down and planted a kiss on the corner of her mouth. From Ryan's angle he would think it was only her cheek. "I will kill him, for every single person he hurt and killed in this pack. You can bet on that."

I let her go and walked around her. I walked into the pack house and headed for the back. I rounded the corner into the kitchen and slammed into Derek.

"Woah. Where's the fire?"

"I need to see the attack site."

He sighed. "I'll show you, but you need to settle in first. Take some time. The funeral is at 10am tomorrow."

"It's supposed to rain tonight, Derek. I need to see the attack site."

"Okay. Lyla couldn't talk you out of it either, could she?"

"No. No one is going to. If I don't find him and end this.... He'll keep attacking people I care about."

"Alright. I disagree with it but.... I know you. No matter what any of us say or do, it won't change your mind. I just hope you allow me and Ryan to help you."

I clenched my jaw, as Lyla and Ryan made their way into the kitchen. "Show me."

"Lyla... Please stay here." Derek asked.

She nodded. "I think I'm gonna go lay down for a bit."

I watched her go before following Derek outside. We walked across the backyard to the children's playground that was roped off. Derek and Ryan hung back while I walked forward to survey the area. When I was Beta this was the thing I was best at. I could take a look at a scene and tell you where the attacker came from and how things went down based on the marks left behind.
