Parker's POV:

I was sitting in the living room at the pack house, playing a game on my laptop when Ryan found me. Chris, David, My parents, and Derek and Violet were all with me. I could feel Ryan's eyes on me but purposely ignored him. I played with the stitches inside my mouth nervously as he approached. All conversation stopped and I refused to look up from the computer. Ryan gently grabbed the computer and pulled it away, shutting it as he took a seat on the coffee table and placed it next to him.

"I was using that."

"What the hell was that?"

I avoided his eyes and made a face. "I think it was Call of Duty."

"Parker." He warned.

I shrugged. "I don't know what you are talking about."

"Don't play stupid. Why are you...." He cut himself off and took a deep breath while pinching the bridge of his nose. "Why did you tell Thomas you almost killed me?"

"Because... he asked a question and I answered it."

He swiped his hand over his mouth and down his chin before he leaned forward into my space, planting his forearms on his knees. "I thought we got past this last night."

I clenched my jaw as my hands fiddled with the bottom of my shorts. "No. Just because you got past it doesn't mean I am. I didn't say anything wrong. He asked why I wasn't mad that he bit and dug you and I said it'd be hypocritical because I tried to kill you. I wasn't even being a smartass and now you're mad at me."

"I'm mad at you because you don't need to go around telling people that when it's not true. If Percy wanted to kill me and had been trying to kill me, he would have. I didn't fight back."

"YOU NEVER DO!" I snapped. "THE ONLY PERSON HERE WILLING TO KICK MY ASS IS MATT!"

My eyes finally connected with Ryan's.

"I'm sorry? Do you really want me to beat the shit out of you? That's not what being a mate is about. Just because I am bigger and stronger and more dominant doesn't mean I am going to beat the shit out of you." He looked angry.

"Oh... So now I'm a bad mate?"

"I didn't say that!"

"You heavily implied it."

He closed his eyes and rubbed his right eyebrow and temple. "I did not. If that's what you felt I am sorry. That is not what I meant."

I looked away from him. "Why do you even care?"

"Because I fucking love you."

"Oh look at that... I'm fixed." I faked a smile.

"Parker. Will you please stop doing this?"

"Doing what? I was playing a fucking game and you came in and stopped me because I told a 15 year old kid I wasn't mad he hurt my mate because I hurt my mate a few days ago. I didn't want him to beat himself up about hurting you when he was fucking scared. I know what it's like to be free and scared and to hurt the first person who comes at you without meaning to." I stopped and my eyes flickered between his own. "I hugged that kid.... I didn't like it but I did it because he's scared and he's hurt and then he thought I was going to be mad because he didn't realize I didn't know he hurt you. So I told him the truth so he would really know that I wasn't mad. I'm sorry if that fucks up something for you but I was doing my job in trying to keep him okay."

Ryan licked his lips. "Do you want to know why I am really mad?

"Oh, I'm sure you'll enlighten me even if I say no." I snapped.
