The drive to the restaurant was silent. It wasn't an awkward silence, just relaxing. Ryujin's mother let me sit in the front seat even though I practically begged her to take it. She insisted that the Alpha and Luna should sit together.

The whole ride I stared out the window thinking about conversation topics. Also things I shouldn't bring up like my family, how her pack attacked mine and it's the reason I can't see my parents, or that I can see and speak to the moon goddess.

The last thing I want to do is start problems.

"We're here." Ryujin lightly informed us and I lifted my head off the car window.

The restaurant looked pretty fancy for a casual lunch. We got out of the car and the valet took it to parking. Ryujin took my hand as we walked to the front doors causing pleasure and happiness to replace my worry.

Ryujin held the door open for her mother and I then asked for a table for three.

A tall blonde young man took us to our table. The man pulled out my seat for me and I thankfully sat down. When everyone was seated he handed out the menus and gave us time to order.

I scanned the menu hungrily, everything sounded amazing.

"He was looking at you." Ryujin grumbled beside me, just quite enough so only I heard.

Slowly I turn my head to her. "What did you think he was blind?"

"You know what I mean." She annoyingly sighs and closes her menu. I playfully roll my eyes and turn back to my menu. Everything was pretty expensive, I bet ten dollars for a glass.

We all glanced up when the waiter came back with his notepad. "Can I get you anything to drink?" He asks me first.

"Lemon water would be great, thank you." He quickly scribbled on his notepad and gave me a charming smile before turning to Ryujin's mother. I could tell that Ryujin was tensed up, he had his arms cross over his chest and a pissed glare.

"And for you Miss?" The waiter asks Ryujin.

"Whiskey, neat." She stares up at the poor guy with a hard glare. Swiftly the waiter wrote down his order and walked away.

"Why do you always have to be so intimidating?" Her mother rolled her eyes and saw right through her.

"Anyways, where the heck are my grandchildren?" Right away my gaze sprung up to her and my eyes grew wide.

"Uh..." My mind drew blank. I have no idea where her grandchildren are.

"Oh, I'm just teasing!" She giggles and rests her chin on her fist. "So Yeji, tell me about yourself, where are you from?"

For some reason, the feeling of these questions being the ultimate test came over me. I know where I'm from, here in Oregon.

"Oh, just here in Oregon."

"What about your family? When will I get to meet the two people that made such a beautiful girl?" Now it was my turn to tense up.

What about my family? Will I ever get to meet them again? Should I lie and tell her soon, or let her know the last time I saw them was when your pack attacked mine.

Do I tell that maybe I don't even want to meet them? Tell her that I never want to see those hateful people ever again?! I spent days up in a stupid attic without food or anyone to talk to.

Going insane as a little girl is not cute! If they would have believed me I could be with them, or would I? They sent me away because of my gift that's what grandma told me.

Because of my gift right? Or was it because they think I'm crazy?

"I'm just going to take her outside, she needs some fresh air." Suddenly I was being helped out of my seat and led outside by Ryujin. I didn't feel like the movement was physically happening, but as if I was watching it in a movie.

The cool air greeted my cheeks, instantly calming me down. How could I have been so clueless? Thinking that my parents sent me away for my safety. They sent me away because I'm crazy. I'm insane. If only there was someone to tell me that they speak to her too, that they see her.

If only there was someone who believes in me.

"Yeddeong, are you okay? I know that was a tough question." Ryujin's voice rings in my ears, like birds in the morning, bringing me back to life.

"Yes, I'm fine. I'm sorry I kinda blanked." My voice cracked and I plastered on a fake smile. "Let's go back in." Worry was visible in her eyes.

As I tried to pass by her she gently grabbed my hand, holding me back. "I know you're hiding something." I didn't tell her that he was wrong. I stayed silent.

"You don't have to tell me now, but one day I hope you do." Ryujin's eyes held pain, regret, sorrow.

"I will do absolutely anything in this world and the next to keep you safe. If something gets in my way, I don't care what it is, I will take it down." Ryujin's aroma intensified."Even if it is your parents."
