chapter 25~ protect

Author~chan's POV~

"...Take-san" 

whispering the older's name one last time, Hakkai adjusted his boots and stood up properly. he looked around his room as his eyes spotted the mirror near his wardrobe where his reflection could be seen clearly. his orbs glowed in bitterness, seeing his Touman uniform that he wore every day with tenderness was replaced by the uniform of the Black Dragons. the group of his older brother who successfully gained him and also became one of the official members, he stood there for a few seconds, still scrutinizing his reflection in the mirror.

he started pondering about Takemichi, now he's one of the official members in Black Dragons where little by little everything will change. he wondered, would Takemichi be happy if she saw him wearing such a uniform? from his abusive older brother whom he had been trying to escape for years. will everything be fine too if at these times he kills Taiju? for Takemichi and the whole Touman? honestly, he didn't know what would happen next. he was too coward to even think about those things.

even if he thinks about the outcome of his plans once, he can't stop himself from thinking about the older whether he will get angry or not. he wants to pursue his plan, he wants his and Yuzuha's life to be happy so that they don't have to suffer at Taiju's hands anymore, he wants to be free like other normal people, he wants to be with Takemichi for life to protect her. even once, he wanted to be with the older before everything changed in an instant, he wanted to see Takemichi's beautiful smile again.

"It suits you"

Hakkai's eyes widened when he caught Takemichi in his reflection, having a beautiful smile on her lips as she always did, her oceanic eyes fluttering even more clearly with her uniform radiating like a burst of bright sunshine, her right hand gave a soft pat to his head. 

"no matter what uniform you wear, even Touman, Black Dragons, or whatever...you are still who you are"

that lovely voice, it's been a while since he heard it again.

"don't worry about what others will say to you, stand up straight and show them what you can do. fight for the things you want to fight for, don't look back at your past because it will only pull you back"

"as long as you stand on your own two feet and are still alive, continue what you are fighting for"

Takemichi's reflection in the mirror vanished little by little in the thin air, her eyes closed as her smile grew more bright. she hugged Hakkai from behind who started to cry, her hands wiping his tears.

"don't think you're fighting alone, I know how painful it is to live in this world without anyone knowing what you've been through. but please, don't forget that I'm here and the whole Touman to support you"

for the last time, before Takemichi was completely gone Hakkai felt her lips on his forehead. Takemichi grabbed his face with consideration, she gave Hakkai a reassuring smile as her whole face and body faded completely into the air.

"I'm just always by your side"

Hakkai broke down in heartbreaking cries, his hands touching his forehead where the older kissed him. numerous flashbacks appeared before his indigo eyes, his memories were full of Takemichi's face and voice, saying his name over and over like a mantra. he misses Takemichi more than anything else.

"Take-san...Take-san"
