After her show in Houston, Taylor had made it back to the hotel absolutely exhausted. She hopped into the shower for a quick rinse and went straight to bed. She checked her phone for any messages but it was off and by the time she had plugged it into the charger and waited for it to turn back on, Taylor was already fast asleep.

She woke up early the next day and the first thing she did was check on Kaia.

She had received quite a few messages from her throughout the night and Taylor felt bad for not answering them earlier. She responded with a morning selfie, looking half-dead with a sleepy smile and a thumbs up and a quick good morning message.

The last text she had received was sent at about two in the morning and even though Kaia had asked her to call as soon as she was up, she was two hours ahead which meant it was only six o'clock in Los Angeles and she didn't want to wake Kaia up unnecessarily. She would call her on the ride over to Arlington in a few hours.

Taylor went about her morning, changing into a pair of leggings and a sweater before heading to breakfast. She found her mother and a few members of her touring crew already down in the breakfast lounge, taking advantage of the hotel's extensive buffet. Andrea was reading on her phone, cup of coffee in the other hand and a bowl of fruit in front of her. Taylor leaned over her mom, kissing the top of her head and sliding into the booth right next to her.

She dropped her head on her mom's shoulder and sighed heavily, fighting back a yawn.

"Morning, baby," Andrea chuckled softly, scrolling to the next page on whatever e-book she was reading.

Taylor grumbled in response, pointing at her mom's cup of coffee.

"What are you doing that for? You can order your own coffee," Andrea said with a roll of her eyes.

Taylor groaned, burying herself deeper into Andrea's side.

"Too tired," she mumbled, yawning loudly this time.

"You can get some more sleep. We don't leave for another few hours," her mother replied softly, turning toward her for a moment, brushing her lips tenderly on Taylor's forehead. "You're a little warm, sweetheart. You feeling okay?"

"M'good. Just need coffee," she mumbled, stealing a quick sip from Andrea's mug.

She wrapped her arm around Taylor's frame, giving her a gentle squeeze. "Not on an empty stomach you don't. The omelette's good."

Taylor scrunched her nose, staring deeply at the bottle of maple syrup on the table. "No, I want pancakes."

"Then order some!" Andrea laughed, patting Taylor's side as she clicked her tongue. "You always regress back into a toddler whenever you're coming down with something."

Taylor grumbled incoherently again, holding her hand up to get a waiter's attention when her nose started feeling itchy. No, no, no... please, no!

A young man in an apron came over just as Taylor sneezed loud enough to attract the attention of everyone around them.

"Here you go, ma'am," the waiter said as he handed her a napkin.

"Thanks," she sighed, wiping at her nose.

"What can I getcha?"

"Pancakes and some black coffee, please," Taylor ordered, her voice already starting to sound stuffy.
