Robyn
I hurriedly dial King's number. No answer. I call him over and over until he finally picks up the fourth time I call him.
"What's up?" He answers.
"Meet me back at my house. Now. and bring the boys with you." I demand and hang up before he has a chance to ask any questions.
I speed my way out of one of our warehouses and jet home. Literally. It's a miracle I didn't get a ticket. I was going seventy-five miles per hour in a thirty mile per hour area. So it was a close call.
When I get to our new house, King and the boys are already here. I had already made sure Reyna and Remi are not in the house while we discuss this issue.
"It's him. I know it's him. He's around here somewhere." I say while placing the note on the table for them to see.
"How do you know?" Marco, one of the boys asks.
I point to the bottom of the note. "Robyn Hood. He's the only one who calls me that and I know it."
"It could be a set up," King suggests. "He probably has other people working on this for him."
They all nod. "Yeah, we can't do anything right away but make sure everything's straight with the house and who goes in and out at all times." Dee says.
The boys nod again.
The front door alarm rings and we all draw our attention to the door.
Remi steps through the door with a weird look on her face.
"Hey, honey. What are you doing here? I thought you went out with Audrey."
"Oh, I did. The visit was cut short."
She looks at the boys, then back to me. She narrows her eyes at the boys, "I need to speak to my sister in private, please."
We go to the kitchen. "Did you start your period finally?" I ask her.
She rolls her eyes dramatically. "No, I started my period over two months ago."
I gasp. "Why didn't you tell anything? I wanted to know."
"Well now you know. I have something for you. And maybe your guys too..." She retrieves a piece of paper from her pocket and hands it to me.
"What? Another note? He's really predictable. Always been." I say while opening the note.
"What do you mean, he? You know who's been sending us these?" Remi whispers harshly.
I shoot her a stare, reminding her not to ask.
"Don't just stare at me like that. Tell me what you found out." She demands. Look at my little baby sister getting bold. I guess this whole thing as had an affect on all of us, hadn't it?
She clears her throat indicating for me to start explaining.
"You shouldn't have to worry about that right now. Everything is going to be alright and there will be no more of this."
"Robyn!" She slams her hand on the kitchen counter. "I am not a little kid. I deserve to know what is going on for once. Stop hiding everything from us."
I sigh deeply. "Remi, the less you know, the better. Trust me."
"Read the damn note then tell me if it's none of my business."
I'm going to need her little ass to turn it down a notch or two before I pop her in her mouth. She knows I'll do it too.
Bring your best friend too. The note reads. I turn it over and there's an address.
"King! I think we have something."
We run a search on the address and it shows up as an old warehouse in the middle of nowhere. A perfect place for a set up.
"Have your friend, Audrey had any contact with Chaz lately or in the past?" One of the boys asks Remi.
She glares at me and rolls her eyes. "You could've just told me you thought it was Chaz. I saw him not too long ago.
"Where did you last see him." King inquires.
"At some neighborhood. It was a nice one similar to this one but smaller houses. He was in a car with Travis. It was a black car. Not sure what the name of the car was but it was nice-"
"Travis? Lil T?" Shon wrinkles his brows. "Chaz's little dude?"
"Wait, Chaz and Travis know each other?" Remi's confused.
"Yes. They're cousins." I inform her. She eyes widen in shock then in disgust and sorrow.
"Did you know him Remi?" I give her a certain look and she knows what it means. She nods.
"...But I haven't spoken to him a little while. Haven't been returning my calls or texts."
We continue to sort everything out and everything just got too confusing. Why would Chaz be targeting us? What did we ever do? What does he want? Money? That's the only thing that interests him.
I can't believe I was ever in love with someone as selfish as him. He disgusts me. He's got a lot coming for him if he thinks he's going to hurt my family and the people I love and that's a promise that's not going to be broken.
The boys leave but King stays behind. Remi's in her room and Reyna should be coming home soon from work. I'm so proud of her and the new job. It's a lot of progress for her.
A knock on my bedroom door interrupts me from my thoughts.
"Can I come in and join?" It's King.
I get up and crack the door open. "I'm not sure about the joining but you can come in." I say.
He chuckles. "I'm cool with that for now."
I raise an eyebrow at him. "For now, huh?"
He wraps his arms around my waist. "Yes for now."
I plop back down on my bed and he does the same. He lifts the screen of my laptop open. "You were looking at schools?"
"Yeah..."
He nods."That's funny because I heard Harvard University was looking for a new student by the name of Robyn Nicole Taylor."
I laugh. "Yeah, right."
"You better say yeah right! You could go to any school of you wanted to."
"I love the way you lie."
He frowns slightly. "No, seriously, Red. Your intelligence is untraceable." The way he smiles at me makes me smile back at him. His smile was always contagious. He has perfect white teeth that beamed at everyone.
I don't realize that his arms were around me, hugging me tight and I didn't realize that tears were in my eyes begging to fall.
"It's okay." He keeps whispering. "Just let it out, it's okay."
I hold my tears back as much as I could but it gets too difficult and I start crying like a baby.
I stain King's chest with my tears and soaked his thin white-T.
I don't know why I broke down the way I did. I feel vulnerable and embarrassed. I hate crying in front of people. I don't even cry in front of my sisters anymore.
Nonetheless, I feel relieved and refreshed that I can let all those emotions and hurt out in a way non harmful way. I'm glad to express it and just let everything out finally. It feels like the weight of the whole world is always on me.
I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. I'm tired of being unhappy. I'm not the person I want to be. Not at all.
I can't wait till I see the day when my sisters and I are truly happy.
And I'm afraid that King might stick around for a little while.
