REMI
Everyone, even I used to think Reyna was the trouble maker but I was wrong, obviously.
I burned down my apartment. The only home I had.
I honestly forgot the spaghetti on the stove. I was in too much of a rush to remember to turn the stove off. As soon as King called me, the only thing I could think about was how Robyn was and why she was in the hospital.
That's all that mattered then. I admit I wasn't thinking, but I never meant to cause a fire. Not at all.
I wish Robyn never left the house, I wished we didn't have to go to the hospital. I wouldn't be at a stranger's home right now.
As soon as it registered to me that our apartment was on fire, all I've been doing was crying. I fell asleep crying and I woke up crying. I don't think it'll ever stop either. Especially when I know everyone is pointing fingers at me because I caused it.
I've been awake for hours now and I can not go back to sleep whatsoever after I woke up from the horrible dream I had. It was like witnessing the fire all over again.
I woke up sweating, huffing and puffing. The room felt hot, as if I were in the fire and inside the apartment.
This is something that won't ever go away.
The door of the guest room I am staying in creaks open, only slightly. A middle-aged, beautiful and petite woman, pokes her head in. It's King's Aunt, Ms. Janet. After everything died down last night, King drove me over here, all the way on the other side of town, so I could have somewhere to sleep.
Although everyone in the house were strangers to me, I appreciate them for welcoming me and allowing me to stay. But I don't want to count on staying here for too long.
"Good morning, honey. How ya' feelin'? She asks me.
I sit up a little in the bed and attempt to smile. "Good morning to you too. I'm feeling alright."
She furrows her brows slightly, as if she doesn't believe me. "Well, you don't look so good. Why don't you come down and have breakfast with us?"
"Okay, I'll be down there in a minute." I try to smile again, this time more convincing.
She smiles back and leaves the room. I'm starving but food is probably the least thing I want right now.
I make an effort to get out of bed anyway. I clean myself up and get dressed in the clothes Ms. Janet let me borrow yesterday. I am pretty sure they're her oldest daughter's clothes, but I'm not too sure.
We're about the same size, so the clothes fit easily. It's just blue jeans and plain blue T-shirt. I have my shoes from last night, which are just a pair of black Toms.
I pull my hair up in a simple, sloppy bun and leave the room.
The smell of eggs and bacon hits my nose before I even enter the kitchen. It instantly reminds me of the spaghetti. I won't be cooking for a very long time. I'll eat out everyday if I have to.
Everyone is already gathered around while Ms. Janet places the food on the table.
"Good Morning." I say to everybody. It's a big family King has. There's Arianna, who I am borrowing clothes from and who's a Senior in high school, Alana, a cute hyper five year old, who I've heard been called Cheesy, because of her big, pretty smile. There's Ayden, who's Arianna's twin brother, he's the loudest one in the family, including their younger brother, Alex.
Alex's is a sophomore in high school and I may include, very attractive. He has glowing honey brown skin like the rest of the family. Their father, who told me to just call him Mike, is sitting at the end of the table. He's a tall handsome man. I can see why all of their children are beautiful and good looking.
