ROBYN
I reload and check my gun, making sure everything was set. I place in the small of my back. I look up when Chaz comes back in the hotel room. He looks pissed, as usual.
"You good?" I ask him. He quickly nods but It wasn't convincing enough. So I ask again.
"I'm cool. Just make sure everything goes right tonight. A'ight?" He adds, "I'm gonna be there right by you. I don't think they're gonna take you serious."
"What? What do you mean they're not going to take me serious? This is not my first time doing this, you know?" Now I'm angry. What does he mean? I've done successful drops before and I'm not scared. I can take care of myself and I won't hesitate to put some heat in one of those guys if they try something slick.
He sighs. "Just follow my lead and we ain't gonna have a problem. Okay?" He's talking real slow, as if I'm a little child or that's the only way I would understand.
"We already planned this. Why do I have to follow your lead?" I automatically just wanted to go back home and not to the drop anymore. Chaz had been beyond irritating. He keeps giving me attitude for no reason. And when I try talking to him, he just ignores me. He hasn't kissed me in two days. He hasn't touched me in anyway. I mean, a lady has her needs, too.
He hasn't even bothered to at least here me out.
What kind of boyfriend is that?
"Why you keep asking questions? The plans are changed. It's gonna go down how I want it to go down. Ya hear me? 'Cause if you can't comprehend that, then you can go yo' ass home. Don't try any dumb shit. This is my money we're talking and I don't with my money." His voice is low and threatening. But I feel more enraged and heated.
I huff. "Whatever. Are you ready to go or are you just gonna keep acting all big and bad. 'Cause we all know you're not, Maurice."
He gives me a hard look at the sound of his middle name. He hates being called that, I don't know why it bothers him so much. I smile at the thought of him being mad while I strut out of the hotel room.
********
A dark skin dread head steps forward, who I suppose is Des, when Chaz and I enter the warehouse. We stare back at him.
"Who is he?" He asks me.
"He won't be a problem." I answer him. "Give me the money and we'll be out. And it better be exactly five-point-six million or else somebody's gon' end up six feet under." I could feel Chaz staring a hole at the side of my head. I was not going by his stupid plan. It could get us killed.
I don't stare back at him, instead I take a step forward when I see some of his men retrieving from the back with black duffle bags. Chaz yanks me back by the arm. jkm
"Stay here." He grits out. I ignore him and step forward again. I scan the bags and my eyes light up in glee.
"Everything's here." He tells me. His face is emotionless and hard. Exactly how Chaz is looking right now.
We get all of the money and get ready to leave. I get in the car but Chaz doesn't. "You coming?" He was just standing there talking on the phone real low. He keeps nodding his head and saying "yeah," and "okay,".
"Stay in the car. I'll be right back." He tells me. He jogs back in the warehouse before I get to protest or ask him why he's going back.
I huff and stay in the car. Chaz was taking forever. I call his phone but he doesn't answer. So I call Remi. I haven't spoken to them since yesterday. None of them were answering their phones and I was getting worried.
