"Are you sure that-"
"Gilbert, please." Astoria cuts her brother off. "I really don't mind watching father. You go to school, I'll be okay."
Astoria pushes her brother out of the house with a sad smile. With little to no protest, Gilbert finally listens to her. He bids her farewell and tells her that he'd be home as soon as he could. She shuts the door and her smile falls before she puts it right back on to go check on her father.
"Good morning, how do you feel?" She calmly asks him, sitting in the chair next to his bed.
"Oh, just fine." He smiled. "Happy to be back home."
"That's good to hear." Astoria says. "How would you like me to make some fresh bread and soup?"
"That sounds lovely, thank you Tori." Mr. Blythe places a hand on his daughters and warmly grins.
"I'll get right on it then." She tells him, smiling and walking into the kitchen.
_____________
After Astoria gave the food to her father, she went searching for some books. She thought that just because she wasn't at school that didn't mean she wouldn't learn, so Astoria found all of the books that she could learn from; good thing her father had a plethora of them.
She sat down at the kitchen table and layed the books out, put paper down, and grabbed a pen to write with. Astoria read through the math book first and wrote down the equations, solving them as she wrote them out. She did this for a little bit before going onto the English book, writing out information she deemed important.
A while later, her father called for Astoria's help. Right away, she got up and ran to her father's bedside to assist him. She gave him food and water and, after ten or so minutes, went back to doing work. Soon after, she put away all of her things and began to clean the house.
_____________
Shortly after Astoria finished cleaning, Gilbert walked through the front door. He had a look that his sister couldn't place, to her it looked to be between guilty and flustered.
"Hey, are you alright?" She asked him, once he put away his things.
"Yeah... Yeah, I'm good. How is father?" Gilbert re-directed the conversation quickly.
"He's doing good- better even, now that he's back." Astoria smiled, looking towards their fathers room.
"I should go see him, and you should go lay down. You were probably on your feet cleaning most of the time." Gilbert directed Astoria up the stairs before going to check on his father.
Astoria walked up into her room and went for a quick lay down, hoping it would get her brother to calm down a bit and stop worrying so much about her.
