Cole walked over to the window to clean the erasers, and Astoria went with him.
"I'm just saying, Romeo and Juliet couldn't have been in love. They just loved the thrill of being together and going against their families wishes, they didn't actually love eachother." Astoria said.
"I see your point, but if they weren't in love why did they have to kill themselves to be together? It doesn't make sense to me, you would only do that if you couldn't love someone in life so you had to live them in death." Cole replied, finished with the erasers and walking to put them away.
"Okay, maybe that was just to prove a point, I mean-" Astoria was cut off when Cole opened the door to find Anne and Diana.
"Sorry." Cole apologized.
"We didn't realize you were in here, our bad." Astoria told the girls.
"It's alright." Anne said. "We've only just learned that our friendship has been sentenced to death."
Cole and Astoria share a look of confusion, before turning back to Anne. "What?"
"Is there a ridiculous, hateful book that teaches boys to be men?" Anne questioned Cole.
"If there was, it... Wouldn't help me." Cole told her.
"What do you mean?" Anne asked.
"Nothing. Sorry." Cole grabbed Astoria and they walked out.
"Is something the matter?" Asked Astoria.
"No, nothing." He said.
_____________
"Tom, I'm home!" Astoria called out.
The two have been spending plenty of time together, that happens when you work and live together. Astoria had learned that Tom is about to turn 16 in three months, but he looks much older than that.
"I'm coming." Tom called from upstairs.
He walked down the steps with a kind smile, happy to have someone he could talk to other than the animals home.
"Hey, how was school. Learn anything interesting?" He asked.
"If you count Mr. Philips' mustache growing an inch, then no." Astoria laughed lightly.
She puts her books from school down and took out the ones she used when she wasn't going to school, placing them on the kitchen table.
"How about you. How was your day?" She questioned, sitting down at the kitchen table.
"It was alright, same old really." Tom answered. "But what are you doing? I know those aren't the books you brought home from school."
"I used these when I wasn't going to school, the time when I was taking care of my father so my brother could get an education." A ghost of a smile fell over her face. "So I figured I could learn more about what I need to from these, rather than at school."
"You are a wonder, Astoria Blythe." Tom smiled, shaking his head.
